Awesome, we miss our day trips to Canada. The US side of the falls is crap.
We do too.
We will be out in Buffalo in early March and we were trying to figure out how to visit Niagara Falls Ontario for the day.
It just doesn't seem feasible at all even when they make changes to border policy on March 1. Maybe the changes will be better than I'm expecting.

If this year keeps with the theme of the past 5, we'll have a sudden surge of springlike weather in late February and early March, followed by a cold April and May.
I "like" this post and agree you may be correct but I can't "like" it because I hate it!

We were going to go ski at Snow Ridge today.
Then I took the dog out at 0600 and walked on our residual glacier.
It feels like it could easily support a 500 pound man.
And there's no fresh on top.
Time for a good book!

At least the next winter Olympics is in northern Italy, I believe.
It's in the Dolomites, one of the most spectacular natural settings on the planet.

We were above freezing yesterday and got down to 31F overnight.
We still had some old ice on our town roads from last week and the melt from yesterday froze overnight, leaving us with a luge track to get down off the hill.

Someone that feels my pain! I have 3 kids under 3! Haha
If you like to cross country ski look for a Burley trailer and get a ski attachment for it.
It attaches to you via a harness.
We would put our 3 kids in there with snowsuits and blankets. We loved it. They loved it too and often fell asleep with the gentle rocking. Terrain has to be mild though because even the slightest uphill is like climbing Everest with all 3 of them behind you.

So where did the term “jebwalk” come from?

I’ve never been so happy to hear sleet raking across our window screens.
Temp down to 30/29 and that did the trick.
Looks like pure sleet with some mangled icy flakes mixed in now.
Good luck to you guys south of me.

I’m thinking the same here. TWC hourly shows rain/mix until 5am when it flips to snow at 25°. That will make +/-11 hours of freezing starting at 32° and dropping to 25°.
I’m doing things right now to get ahead in case we lose power tonight….which could last a while. Thermostat is being bumped up a few degrees to “bank heat” right meow.
I did a major tuneup on our generator last month.
I really don't want to be using it tonight.

Rain and 31.3°
31F, dew 30F, rain here. Ice accreting on trees.
This is going to get ugly for someone if we don't flip to snow or sleet soon.

Working in Glens Falls and shocked by the amount of black ice on my way this morning.
Cooperstown, with a very treacherous walk up the hill to work this morning. Patchy black ice everywhere.

nah, judging by the newest update from them. Rain all of today with only 2-4" tonight and tomorrow. Not often they cancel an advisory they issued before snow even falls. Shows how little impact they expect this storm to have on Toronto and the suburbs
Interesting they don't eat their own cooking, so to speak.

This is tough to watch for those of us who live along the I-88 corridor. My official forecast to co-workers is 1”-15”.
Rain would pause snowmobiling until we receive more snow. 6”+ would make it beautiful, near perfect, conditions. We’re right on the brink with all options on the table.
Hang in there.
A week ago we were looking at this being several days in the 40s with rain.
We would have gone back to bare ground.
This event is going to be more addition than subtraction.

Long range RGEM forecasting overrunning precipitation.....I'll go out on a limb and say that's not in its wheelhouse.

I probably couldn't cook up a worse Euro run if I made it myself. A dangerous ice storm would be a fitting cap on what's been a historically bad start to winter. Hopefully that's not the end solution. I'd prefer sending this through Toronto and deal with the rain over this. I don't see the Euro messing this one up that badly however.
I’m right there with you.
I was out all morning, started catching up on this thread from page 5.
With every page it got better looking for us……until the Euro rolled in.
We hope the GFS keeps up its recent over performance.

So much nicer! (For down here)
Violently agree.
Apologies to the rest of the board but that freezing rain and sleet zone was much too close for comfort for us previously.
Going without power when temps drop below zero again next weekend will be ugly for whoever gets the ice.

Someone in our subforum is going to get the goods.....and a chance that all can score big..let's stay together family...
BGM really downplayed ice potential in their afternoon discussion.
But where I am in Otsego County the models look ripe for a nasty ice storm. Not my cup of tea.
Your thoughts on the ice potential for our area are appreciated.

That line has gotten pretty hot looking on radar since it passed you. Headed my way now with a severe T-storm watch in effect.
