1.75 inches in about 2.5 hours after lunch today.
Still raining.

Just got a little over 1.5” in about an hour. Radar showed an extremely narrow band that happened to be right over our house (and my parents a mile down the road). Localized flooding over some roads, water flowing across basement floor. Fun.
Crazy rainfall in central and southern Otsego County under that band as well.
I happened to dump my gauge at 1100 today during a break in the rain. I'll go check the amount when this lets up.
Our yard is flooded but the scenes from Morris and Gilbertsville look ugly.

I've given up on dumping my rain gauge.
It just rains....and rains more.
All I can say is we have got a LOT of rain this past 2 weeks.

Have to give BGM office props.
We are their northeastern corner county, they could have easily gone severe watch over the whole CWA but they left us out and the storms skirted our western border and hit a wall.
That's some precision forecasting!

Looks like we just miss out here in Otsego County and with all the rain and storms we have had lately I'm OK with it.
Enjoy everyone.

Do you have any suggestions for decent hikes with younger kids? We have done a few hikes on NW side of the ADKs where it is pretty flat. They did good with a +/-6mi distance (total out and back). I’d like to find a hike with a decent view for them, but of course vertical hikes will wear them out much quicker.
Owl Head lookout would be perfect: https://www.lakeplacid.com/do/hiking/owl-head-lookout
Indian Head: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-york/indian-head-and-rainbow-falls
Indian Pass with kids? I wouldn't. My wife and I hiked it last week. There are a lot of open sloped wet rock faces that young kids would make make me very nervous on.

36° low this morning and the 3rd morning with spotty frost this month!
Two nights ago it was sweltering hot at bed time.
Last night I slept in winter flannel pajamas.
Amazing ups and downs this June.

Good thing I'm hiking Thurs/Fri. My friends are up there Thurs-Tuesday. Was planning on heading home on Sunday, but at least I'll get the hikes out of the way. 40 miles of hiking, 12k elevation change in 2 days. Good luck me. If I die or get lost I'll be on the colvin/blake/sawteeth trail on Thurs and Basin/saddleback/haystack on Friday.
My wife and I are up there starting Sunday night....if you don't report back in by then we will commence the search!

I'm tempted to take a half day today and chase. Seems like one of the rare opportunities where all the ingredients are in place. Feels absolutely perfect this morning too. Temp of 76 with a dewpoint of 70 at 9am, pure perfect summer morning. Wish we could carbon copy it for the next 90 days.
Where would you start?
I'm thinking somewhere just off I-90 with a long vantage point like between Syracuse and Utica and then follow it east?

Be glad you didn’t. After a 2 hour delay they tried to start to the show after the fog layer finally burnt off but the cloud deck was still only around 1000’ over the harbor so the blue angels and the other stunt planes were a no go.
Wow that would have sucked.
Hope they have better conditions today.

Been fun watching them buzz around town this week.
Sweet!
We hoped to come out for the show but I am stuck at work this weekend.

Brisk!
I left the house at 43F; I would guesstimate it was in the upper 30's down in the valley below.
I was in a double layer top, light thermal cap under my helmet, and light gloves.
No the usual June attire but a spectacular morning nonetheless.

I was thinking of this map, showing when the hottest day of the year is likely to occur:

I am fascinated by how different the timing is for different areas.

Loving it, we are going hiking in the Adirondacks the last 5 days of the month.
Brisk, glorious bike ride to work this morning. 48F when I left home under clear skies and early sunshine.

This has to be a dream (nightmare).
I woke up to 45F and drizzling.
It was much warmer here for Christmas than it has been so far Memorial Day weekend.

You definitely won again today.
44F here most of the day, I think it ticked up to a "high"of 45 or 46 and it's been raining steadily for most of the day.
Worst Memorial Day weekend weather ever.

We hit almost 67° today lol Closer to the lake and farther north was warmer today with mid-upper 60s from Oswego county to kart..
I wish I knew, because we would have headed north.
Today looking equally as dismal here.

46F for a high here today.
Unreal.

Surreal to have it be 38F, windy and rainy Memorial Day weekend.
I just took the dog out in a coat with hat and gloves on.

Yikes, that's pretty cold to be in the water all day in Old Forge.
Thanks for posting it.
