Looks like constant snows began in Nov and they sleigh greatly into mid Napril .
Every single year. What a winter lovers time to be alive !
A Ginx Christmasstory
If they ever wanted to do rewrites from our era .. it would be along the lines of Record snow melts, screamers, green Christmases , high dews, bikes and roller skates and the Grinch wearing shorts and a tee
Well it is what it is I guess. When they wrote all the lyrics to all of the Xmas songs back in the day .. they must have had snow every year in December. Every Xmas song is about the worts December, icicles forming, mantles and blankets of white, sleigh bells . Ye were snowy times
Well this is all true in varying degrees, but it did used to snow in Nov and Dec.. and not that long ago. I don’t mean a small 1-4” OES event like you guys had yesterday.. we used to get snowstorms in these months.. even if they didn’t last that long OTG. I can’t figure out if it’s just a bad and vicious cycle we’re in , or if this really is what it’s going to be like each year
I was driving back from NH looking at the barren green landscape and was thinking about it. The winter is only so long and when you lose weeks and months .. it just gets extremely stressful
When you sit back and think about it, the amount of days and weeks and months we waste of possible snow waiting for that elusive pattern change to kick in really is amazing. All the tracking, all the 10 days that keep getting pushed back.. just happens so often.. and before you know it Tip is posting about warm car seats and sun angle on Feb 10.. and then Morch hits
There were a few in the 90’s we had that were life changers. I’ll say maybe one in 91-92 and maybe a similar one 93-94 or 95-96. One was in November. I lived in Vernon then and there were so many white pines and Evergreens snapped. Gusts 65-70. Again out of the SSE which any met SHOULD know.. is a trees most damaging direction . Sunday night looks like that potential . Especially east of Bristol
I always laugh at the mehs and no wind and frontal passage posts on these. Think about Xmas morning 2 years ago . That was a great example of the mehs and folks woke up to no power and a foot of snow wiped to grass
You recall the one last year. I’m not at all. There was l30-40 west of HFD. And posters didn’t believe the damage and 50-60 east . I recall all the posts about the surprise while areas east got ripped. I just dint remember which month it was
Won’t be like the ones we had in the 90’s with trees bent to the ground.. but if these soundings are anywhere close to correct .. there’ll be 50-64 mph gusts .. mainly south of pike and east of a Springfield/ HFD line. Basically the area that sectors. We’ve seen these so many times.. it’s generally that setup
Folks that live in SNE understand that SE winds are the most damaging due to prevalent winds being WNW. A 50+ SE gust does far more damage than 50+ NW gusts.
It’s the same setup south of pike as the one we had last year. I remember all the MA posters asking where big winds and damage was . South of pike got crushed. Especially the eastern 2/3 of CT and RI up To south of Scooter in S Wey .Gusted to and over 60 in many spots
