  1. 12Z NAM ZR totals are pretty high considering. Especially down here IMBY.
  2. Well, obviously we're looking at an ice storm but just how bad. Unrelated, but I stopped by the lottery machine at Ingles this morning hoping to get lucky w/ this storm and a ticket and sitting right there in the bottom of it was a $50 unscratched ticket. Seems lucky to me!
  3. As much as I'd love a total snow storm. This is screaming sleet and freezing rain.
  4. Per the 18Z GFS, we're still looking at a 35-40 hour storm across the board.
  5. Also, I think one thing that is getting looked over is the wind gusts. An ice storm + wind. I mean, we all know. If this low is going to crank either way.
  6. Fairly sure we have a rule here about no cliff-diving/dramatics LOL! Reel it in!
  7. It is Wednesday and this thing is trending slower. I think the main callout here should be what was in the GSP's WSW re: ICE. And be prepared for that scenario. I don't have enough fingers to count how many times things have gone north or south 3-4 days out. We all went through Helene and that 10000% taught me to never have my guard down and to be prepared for anything no matter what.
  8. If it's going to be an ice storm, I would 10000% prefer for it to end in rain at least to melt things off. However, the temps early next week won't help at all....
  9. That ice accumulation callout is terrifying. Up to 1in?!
  10. ...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations between 1 and 6 inches and ice accumulations between four tenths and one inch possible. * WHERE...Northeast Georgia, Western North Carolina, and the South Carolina Upstate. * WHEN...From Saturday morning through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages. Ice and snow covered roadways will become treacherous and impassable. Widespread power outages are likely due to the weight of the ice and snow on tree limbs and power lines. The outages could last for days in some areas. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest snow and sleet accumulations are possible north of I-40. Highest ice accumulations are possible across the southern mountains of North Carolina, the mountains of northeast Georgia, and the mountains of South Carolina.
  11. Ice, ice, baby. Thinking of that amount of ice and then the possibilities of power outages and then going into low single digits. They need to have a plan in place for some shelters ASAP. Going to wait until Friday but will probably bring my mom to the house here.
  12. Ah, yes. The classic panic swings. We've been here before and we will again. It's what makes if fun no matter what!
  13. Don't dive yet, y'all. Or at all. We are 3-4 days out. Have some good sleep and see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully not ICE!
  14. 18Z EURO is exactly why I filled three propane tanks and got gas for the generator.
  15. Still a ways to go but things aren't backing off yet. However, I would 10000% be prepared. That run was ... mind blowing.
  16. Holy --- BLEEP --- is all I will say for now.
  17. 18Z GFS has itself setup to be a one a few decades storm for MANY.
  18. 18Z NAM trying to throw us a teaser before the big event. Sign me up!
  19. I am waiting for someone over there to say "sun angle" I get we're all snow starved but yeah, need to have a level head about it all. And not jump model to model. It is what it is and will be.
  20. 12ZGFS was SOLID. Now's the time we want to see it creep south a bit. And the duration of this storm is just incredible! Canadian to a jog south too.
  21. Wow. What a sight to wake up to. GFS showing an almost 40 hour event. PHEW! 6Z EURO is very concerning.
