Another encouraging sign of spring, today was the first day I noticed my car feeling warm in the sun when I got in.  Meteorological spring starts in about 2 weeks!

Spring fever! It’s been such a long and boring winter. Loving the longer days and warm temps.

They lost because they gifted KC 7 points in the first half then couldn't adjust to what KC was doing on offense in the second.  I think both teams pass rush was neutralized by the bad traction of the field.  It's hard to get off the ball and get leverage to push past the offensive line when the traction is bad.  I also think KC did a brilliant job taking advantage of that in the second half using motion and misdirection to get philly players moving the wrong direction then hitting them on cut backs.  It worked time and again and they never adjusted.  Both teams had to play on the same field so that's part of the game and KC did a better job playing to the conditions.  Gannon should have adjusted the D to a zone assignment press man.  Stop shifting all over to try to match the KC motion.  KC was using it to move the defense until they got the look they wanted.  So stop.  Play a zone assignment then man up press against whoever ends up in your zone.  You can't play a passive zone scheme when you can't break on the ball as quick as usual and your d line isn't getting pressure.  That will just allow them to eat you alive 10 yards at a time and thats what happened.

This problem also goes deeper than just last night.  I know this will sound harsh but I would let Gannon go.  His defense is amazing against mediocre QB's but struggles really horribly against good ones.  Last night was not an anomaly.  Over his 2 seasons they have given up some of the worse numbers to good QB's.  It's just they eat offenses alive that don't have an elite QB.  But I care more about being able to be competitive against a good team than putting up crazy numbers v bad ones.  He is too passive, prioritizes not giving up big plays over actually making plays and he will never ever have the amount of talent on defense he had to work with this season.  The eagles were able to load up a ridiculous amount of talent on D this year because Hurts was playing on a 1 million a year contract.  Half the D will be gone.  The offense will be mostly intact for years but on D they will have to work with way less talent going forward so if he can't stop top QB with the talent he had this year (was torched the last 2 years by every top 10 QB he faced) his system is never going to work.

The adjustments Andy Reid made at halftime were significant.  I can't recall seeing two receivers more wide open on those last two touchdowns.  Eagles special teams was always a challenge this year and it also came back to bite them.  Even though the Eagles team 2-53 might be better, Mahones was still the best player on the field.  You knew if it was a close game, the Eagles would be in trouble. That being said, the Eagles had a tremendous season.  It will be interesting to see what happens in the off season but if that OL stays intact they should be good.  Eventually they have to pay Hurts and then it gets tricky.  Great Super Bowl.  KC deserved it.

Chiefs are the champs, no doubt. Eagles gave the game away in the second half. Their field goal possessions had to be TDs.

That said, holy hell what a terrible ending. Knee downs and FG with no time left? No thanks. They let them play pretty much all game. How do you throw a flag on 3rd down?

    Legend of Mahones grows.

I love outside work and I love long days with short nights. I love tending to my garden and swimming and late-evening happy hours outside. Winter is fun until about January 20, which is about when you know that the winter will suck, then you just deal with it until the days get longer and warmer.

I’m not a fan of March weather, but I am a fan of what it portends. Bring it.

Agreed. The next few months are great. Longer days and great weather before the heat of summer. Winter is great only when it snows.

Since this is the long range weather thread ... looks like the snow chances are pretty much gone. Also looks to be an extended period of temps a little above average. I would love to see March 15 to April 15 be above normal, April 15 to May 15 normal, and May 15 to Sept 15 below normal LOL.

Agree. I would love  above normal to end of April and then the heat of the summer below normal.  Let’s make it happen

Nothing like that here.  It was 45 here around 3pm when I got home with gusty winds . Actually 45 and sunny with little wind in March is pretty decent . Back to winter feel this evening through Sunday up here  . Good chance temps don't get out of the 30s here next 3 days . Tomorrow am Nam has low 20s with gusts to 30+ ....definitely a deep winter feel coming

45 and overcast here but I’m hearing 60s next week.

My issue is that winter is all I've got. I loathe Spring and Summer with a passion. The growing plant life, bugs, heat, humidity. It's awful. So I start getting bummed around this time every winter just because I know no matter if there's wintry weather in March, were still right around the corner from the inevitable arrival of the warm seasons.

Longer days, soft breezes, cooking on the grill, eating outside, working in the yard, playing golf, baseball, fishing....doesn’t get much better,  can’t wait!

I totally agree. Even the worst of winters, except maybe last year, were most definitely not over this early. To be quite honest, I’m not far from being at the point where I’d like to see some sun and warmth so this isn’t wishcasting on my part. I seriously doubt that we are done with cold and wintry weather.

     Mid 50s later this week!

If the clouds do hold off ahead of the cold front, it could be one of those days where the models underestimate surface solar radiation (and thus surface temperatures) owing to the lack of foliage this time of year.

    Perfect weather to get outside

I don’t want to quote your entire post, but for me it’s not about “too much snow” rather than winter goes on too long. There’s a late season storm almost every year that’s dumping snow and ice in NE and I’m out working in the yard or garden under sunny skies, and breezy mid 50’s. I don’t want winter to outstay its welcome.

Completely agree. I lived in  northern Massachusetts and we had 74 inches of snow the winter was phenomenal, the fall incredible ,summer was great but spring took freaking forever!

I remember many days in mid to late May they were in the 40s it was just brutal.
