Based on 18z obs the primary low has deflated to 1003 mb in n KY but the circulation is very flabby within 100 miles of the center, indicating that the coastal transfer is starting to develop.

The wave formation near the coast is most evident near SAV, when an impulse now forming near the AL-GA border catches up to this coastal wave that should initiate the coastal as a separate circulation around 00-02z. Models seemed to be struggling with multiple coastal vortices that suddenly jump forward towards NJ, in reality there would probably be something more organized by 12z east of Hatteras.

What this looks like is analogous to the blizzard of 1888 only aimed more at NJ/PA than LI/CT. There will quite likely be some enormous snowfalls in eastern PA and the contours around those maxima would be quite impressive even into MD, DE and NJ. Local amounts of 40" or even higher would not be surprising given the curved moisture feed aimed at one region for 24h.

    Wow. Hope you’re right!

I know my yard better than anyone. I can safely say I will probably get 2-3” from the WAA, then MAYBE 1-2” after that. So 3-5”. That’s my forecast for those in SE Harford County SE of 95 who happen to be at sea level. I’m upset about it but this is how it is. I’ve dealt with it all of my life and it’s time to accept that. Thank you for reading.

    Sounds good. Enjoy

I hear you - we all are chasing HECS storms. But of course not every storm is going to be a HECS or MECS. For me it's all about the scenery - get the grass blades covered up completely and I'll Jebwalk and enjoy the snow. Unfortunately, the advent of the internet and widespread distribution of snow maps and weather models has really hurt the enjoyment of snow for weather weenies everywhere.

We could be having another winter like last winter - so I try to look at the bright side. It's snowing and it's sticking (for the most part).

Agree. Much better than last year. Ignore the clown maps and enjoy the snow.

Guys we got greedy, lets just be happy that all of the models agree we get 3-6 inches of snow. Enough to look nice and cover the grass. Also this is for Sunday one of the rare times when the ground is frozen so it will stick. This happens almost every time with a Miller B but there is time for it to shift back to us it is still two-three days out.

Agree people see a few maps at 15 and 20 and then get disappointed with 4-8. In this winter, 4-8 is epic

Thanks,  I am very close to the MD state line right below the C & D Canal. My location may help. Seems I may be able to take advantage of the coma head and the front end thump of snow. Good luck to you !

You are in a good spot.

And the Euro's "worst" solution is still a solid 5-10" for much of the forum.

It's kind of comical the weenie reactions last night and this morning.

Exactly. It’s a huge win for most in the forum.

I mean just looking at the euro verbatim if that energy doesn’t dive behind it probably doesn’t bomb like it did. Doesn’t mean no snow just not as much coastal love. The gfs is north for different reasons

Exactly- without that piece of energy diving in behind it the numbers are dramatically different. Should temper expectations. Be interesting to see where this ends up

They look slightly south of where I would want them.  0z was PERFECT.  12z ticked slightly south again.  Don’t get me wrong they look AMAZING but the northern part of the forum (Baltimore Northwest) is running out of wiggle room for any future adjustments south. That said we’re about the range guidance has been locking on here so maybe this was the last of the bumps south.

Waiting for you to tell us what could go wrong....or should we not jinx it...

This was  a strung out and weakening mess. The NAMs were too juiced up, but there was a clear trend to dry up the decent qpf as it moved east.

I got exactly what I hoped for though- a solid coating of snow, probably around 0.3".

They should have left the forecast alone though- going with the WWA and 1-3 inches here was lol.

Biggest storm of the year for some....

My brother's extensive roster of in-laws pretty much cheer for either the Vikings or the Packers.  I'm sure the family communications are not a pretty sight right now.

Amazing year for Tampa- Rays, Lightning, Bucs
