  1. First day of our club championship today. Was playing ok until the last 3 holes. Doubled 16 when I sliced my drive OB. Almost landed in a top down convertible BMW that was driving by. Hit my tee shot just short of the green on the par 3 17th. Pitched on and had a straight, flat 8 foot putt for par. Missed that and had a 3 footer for bogey. Missed that and had an 10” putt for double, was so pissed at that I slammed the putt hard, hit the flagstick and ricocheted out 2 feet, missed that putt too. Ended taking a 5 putt 7 on a par 3. I was steaming on the 18th tee and promptly sliced two into the trees. Found the second and ended up taking an 8. Being an ass, like I was on 17, never helps your golf game. I guess I won’t have any pressure on me in the second round tomorrow.
  2. I missed most of his round We took off for Mt. Washington just before noon and he hadn’t hit the back nine. I listened to quite a bit on satellite radio but missed the really hot stretch. Hoping to catch some tonight. I’m rooting for him. I’ve liked him since hit near miss at Oakmont a couple of years ago.
  3. Rory off to a horrible start +8, tied for 139th
  4. I may stay inside with the shades drawn, all fans blowing and the window AC unit on high.
  5. I think Rahm has a good shot. I think the pressure will be too much for Rory. The sentimental favorite has to be Graeme McDowell. I’ve always liked him and am glad he got into this one in his home town. I think Justin Rose might come through this time though.
  6. It’s Open Championship week. Royal Portrush looks like it will be fun. This may be my favorite major. I love the look and feel of links golf and the fact that it’s on before I go to work means I get to watch more than the others. I love the fact that the R&A doesn’t trick up the courses. If conditions allow for low scoring then so be it. If the field struggles to break par that’s fine too.
  7. Lol, “plummet to -20 c”. That writer has really no clue about winter in Maine or NNE in general. That’s a pretty normal night. edi: it is an amazing story.
  8. It’s probably worth having a professional look at it to make sure it’s completely clear. Blocked vent pipes can lead to carbon monoxide issues.
  9. Did Tip write that first sentence?
  10. MPV came in at -2.3 for June and 7.06” of precip which was good for the 7th wettest on record. BTV as +.2 with 4.99”
  11. Well thank god we just had a downpour. It had been a little over 24 hours since the last rain. I was afraid we were descending into drought.
  12. Been a fun Open to watch. Was hoping Rory would come through. Woodland has shown nerves a couple of times but never buckled. Good for him. Koepka put some pressure on him and he held up. Great finish on 18.
  13. From a sledding standpoint, it would be hard to find a better one. Pretty continuous riding for 3 months. I missed an early weekend because we had some rain that froze everything rock solid and then I missed a weekend because of a big storm with lots of wind with big drifts and downed trees/limbs. For that one, I wanted to let the groomers do their thing. I like to ride not dig out a 600lb sled every mile or two. I put on 1500 miles riding only on weekends. We never really went on the weeknight local 30-40 mile loops from the house like we usually do. It was a great season.
  14. I like that the Majors each have a different personality. The Masters is special because its the first of the year and can provide great risk/reward situations. The US Open is hard, sometimes bordering on unfair. I like to see the difficult set-ups that demand such intense focus and concentration. Having said that, the USGA goes overboard at times and can't seem to get out of their own way with some of the decisions they make. The British Open might be my favorite. It requires imagination and creativity. I like the fact that the R&A doesn't trick up the golf course and lets nature take it's course. If conditions allow for a low scoring birdie fest, then so be it. If there are strong winds and rain that make par hard to achieve, well, that's fine too. As for the PGA, to me, it has the least amount of character of the 4. I am glad that it has been moved to May and hope it can really start to develop a personality of it's own.
  15. The whining, complaining thing is one of the reasons I don't like Bubba.
  16. Could be a major impact to snowmobile trails etc in the area. Cotton Brook is a main access point to a pretty extensive trail network. You can access them from the Little River/Waterbury side but it is still a big blow.
  17. As I was leaving the gym, off to west there was one small open spot in the clouds. Judging by the direction, it looked to be just about right over PF’s head. Otherwise pure misery mist and the car thermo bottomed out at 41f on the way home.
  18. I have the 18v system and like all of the tools. I think the trimmer lasts about an hour on a charge. I don't have a ton of trimmimg to do so it works for me.
  19. My little course in Northfield, VT came through winter great and is pretty much in mid-season form.
  20. As I suspected, the heaviest stuff stayed north of me. It rained but didn't seem overly hard overnight. When I came in to work I was pretty surprised at ho high the river was running.
  21. I’ve always liked Koepka. I liked the fact that he and Peter Uhlein decided to go the European route instead of the standard Q-school route. I remember watching him win over there and thinking he could be great. Got a little ticklish towards the end today though.
  22. 1"-1.5" at my house, which sets at 1250'. Looks like a little less over at the golf course which is at 810'
  23. Only .38 at MPV. But as your radar loop shows, the heaviest stuff has stayed north of us.
