  1. Front has passed, as expected an abrupt wind shift. Switched to snow immediately. Temps quickly rose from 29.3 to 35.4 immediately before fropa and are now 30.5 (dropping 0.2 degrees every 30 seconds or so).
  2. Baro down to 989 in southwest Garrett County. Never got above freezing with a ton of ice still on the trees.
  3. Now ZR in MLP. I hope we rise above freezing long enough this evening to melt what accretes with the wind coming. Fairly light returns downwind (good accretion) and already small icicles on the trees.
  4. 28.5/26.4 in Mountain Lake Park. Had some decent snow (after starting out as ZR and temps right at 32) but is now almost all sleet. About an inch of slop, maybe a tad more.
  5. Interesting inversion last night. 7.3 for a low here and in McHenry (about 350’ higher and ~12 miles north), 14.6.
  6. It really is. Steady snow, gusts to around 20 mph and temps in the low 20s. Spectacular morning.
  7. 22.1 and steady snow this morning. Beautiful, light upslope event. 1.9” since last night on top of last weeks glacier.
  8. I live in Garrett County and can confirm the roads are dicey, but passable. The heaviest precip has ended and the road crews out here are phenomenal. It has been mostly sleet for the last 4 or so hours, which has limited the ZR accretion. If he hits the road, you know the drill...just take your time. It won't do anyone any good to call from a ditch.
  9. Mostly sleet in southern Garrett County after overnight ZR (thank god). 29.8. Roads are slushy but the awesome highway crews are doing a fantastic job.
  10. Interestingly in MLP, temp has remained steady at 33.9, but DP rose from 15.5 to 21.4 in the last few hours.
  11. 31.8/15.6 in southern Garrett County. This will be an interesting next 36 hours out here.
  12. 20.1 for the low in MLP. Currently 30.9/15.4.
  13. I so agree with you. I'm in Mountain Lake Park (Garrett Co) which is in a bit of a bowl so I am afraid I am going to maximize the amount of ice in comparison to the ridges...drove around this morning and noticed the multitude of tall evergreens teetering over the power poles (just moved here in October). This has the potential IMBY to be quite disruptive. We shall see how long the power holds out.
  14. 30.5/27.1 with 0.3” overnight. Reallllly hoping the higher end ZR totals for southern Garrett County don’t verify later in the week. Candles are fun ‘n all, but…
  15. Pretty interesting 3-4 week disco from CPC: https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/WK34/
  16. Good morning from the tundra that is Mountain Lake Park! 13.4/3. Half inch last night (or so) freshening up the 1-2 on the ground. Your average fall day lol. side note: got home late last night from chasing the LES in Buffalo. Pretty damn epic with the 3 different bands that came through - each one producing thundersnow. IMBY there, I measured a total of 46.5 inches. Just south of me, reports of over 80 which I drove thru getting back. For us weenies, can’t recommend enough adding this to your bucket list.
  17. I can confirm this. For a period, it felt like a June thunderstorm with the thunder rattling the house and impressive lightning. Continued for hours. Had a couple good strikes nearby when I was shoveling earlier this morning, too. I’m in West Seneca NY for the storm. Best action is south of me but IMBY, at 25” so far. Will likely end up in the 40”-45” range
  18. 0.78” in MLP. Nearly all ended up falling as ZR. Missed the snow so headed up to Buffalo to chase the LES event. Hopefully threaded the right needle with the spot I picked - talk about a brutal northern cutoff lol.
  19. Trying to post the pic but image is too big…but 10 minutes after the snow began, pingers. All damn pingers…
  20. Well that didn't take long...SN now. Immediate stickage on the roads. Should be a fun few hours.
  21. Radar says I should be seeing something based on decent KPBZ returns, but nada yet (Mountain Lake Park, el 2,483 ft). Would be nice to see a decent front end before it turns to slop.
  22. I’m going to be chasing from Maryland…if there are folks meeting up (hotel etc), let me know. PM me if you get a sec.
