Anyone ever get a severe rash from taking an antibiotic? I told the doc I didn't have any allergic reactions that I knew of, but then I have not taken a antibiotic since I was a kid. Now I have been prescribed prednisone, which I have never taken. Can't wait to see what awful side effects I get from that. Might just wait this out another day now that the amoxicillin is out of my system.

Some individuals do break out in a rash or hives while taking amoxicillin. The steroids should make you feel fabulous (until the second or third day after you stop taking the steroids)

Unless you have serious problems Do not stop taking the Prednisone ,(adrenal glands need you finish with a taper off the med).

No need to warm it up -- ruby throats love the cold nectar!  My tropicals are also not liking this crap weather.

Looks like another day locked in the low 50s. Looking forward to finally seeing sun tomorrow.

Ha! Tell that to the female hummer who flies out of the tree, b-lines straight to me and starts drinking the nectar out of the feeder before I've even had a chance to switch it out.

  3. 48F. My flowering tropical plants are not happy at all. The hummingbirds aren't  either. I moved the hummingbird feeders out of the rain and wind, and surprisingly they found the new location of pretty quickly. And I'm switching the feeder every 3 hours, (one inside to warm it up).

thx!   Will do.  Also put an oriole feeder out, but the wind took that down on Friday night.

Keep the hummingbird feeders away from feeders for other birds. Secondly hang the hummingbird feeders somewhere high enough that raccoons and squirrels can't get to it. Once those little critters get a taste of that sugar water the feeder will be empty the day after you fill it up....

thanks for the advice.  What type of nectar do you use?  Is it homemade?

Yes, I make my own nectar. during the Spring and late Fall I'll usually add a little more sugar than called for, since they burn up so much energy trying to stay warm.

I also boil the water to burn off the chlorine. It takes a little longer because you have to wait for the nectar to cool.

Appreciate this, some interesting details there. I've put out a feeder in past years, have tried planting various types of flowers around or near the feeder, but just have not ever been able to consistently attract hummingbirds to our backyard.

Grab some fake flowers from a dollar store red white purple but predominantly red. You need to grab their attention upon arrival. I have three feeders out now in various locations.  We get the same hummingbirds every season they're not afraid of us anymore, and will dive bomb our heads if the feeders are empty.

Mount Holly did pretty well as usual. They were wrong on their counties along I-95 with the WSW, but here and further north they went with advisories, which mostly worked out. Over in DE they may have been off with the advisory, as some places probably hit min warning criteria.

Mount Holly is much better than Sterling when it comes to those who live 12-15 miles across the Bay from Rock Hall up to the Elk River.

Their discussions are better as well, imho

Yeah it's disappointing, but I'm trying not to let it get me down TOO much...but it's a bit difficult. Was hoping we'd get an inch or two (never did trust the WSW). But that's okay...perhaps we have more chances coming up (hopefully). Coping skills necessary for days like today, lol
