MARINERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE CONOWINGO DAM WILL OPERATE UNDER SPILL CONDITIONS.  THE DAM WILL BEGIN TO OPEN UP ITS FLOOD CREST GATES TO RELEASE EXCESS WATER ON THE 12TH OF SEPTEMBER UNITL FURTHER NOTICE. IT IS EXPECTED THAT THERE WILL BE 12 GATES OPENED DURING THIS TIME. 

Okay, it can stop dumping rain at North Point State Park.  Freakishly loud downpours for the last 15 minutes.

it is, but the pole is attached to the deck railing itself, so we assume its just walking along the deck railing and sitting there having a drink. i forgot to bring the feeder in last night, so had to refill it this morning. 

 We had the same mystery at my previous home. Assumed it was the wind swinging the feeder. Then pondered racoons, but it was a second story deck w/o stairs and couldn't find claw marks on the support beans.

Finally, after a night that left dew on the deck, I spotted a trail of raccoon foot prints. 

After a lot of comical ideas like placing the cats scat mat on the deck rail under the hummingbird feeder, we opted for switching out the feeder every night for one that had only water in it. And we sprayed a solution of apple cider vinegar/water around the area. 

It took a few weeks, but the raccoons decided unsweetened water wasn't worth the smell of the vinegar.

At 450 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over North Point
State Park, moving east at 25 mph.

Winds up to 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Chestertown, Centreville, Rock Hall, Church Hill, Betterton, Old
Town, Langford, Newtown, Starkey Corner, Morgnec, Carville,
Kennedyville, Hope and Kingstown.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Wow, just had the most extreme lightning strike I can recall.

The house shook and the ground rumbled for approximately 7 seconds. It felt like we were having an earthquake

Family member in Chestertown had 5 minutes of hail "slightly smaller than golf ball size." His quote "I thought the skylights were toast."

Pea size hail again. Temp dropped another 5 degrees. 67 now

Same at Sparrows Point. Temp dropped 3  degrees, pouring and windy. Sounds like a mini hurricane.

There is no such thing as "earthquake weather". Statistically, there is approximately an equal distribution of earthquakes in cold weather, hot weather, rainy weather, etc. Very large low-pressure changes associated with major storm systems (typhoons, hurricanes, etc) are known to trigger episodes of fault slip (slow earthquakes) in the Earth’s crust and may also play a role in triggering some damaging earthquakes. However, the numbers are small and are not statistically significant.
