  1. Ok, yea its the 18z GFS, but its pretty 12/20-21 :
  2. Hmm, last night forecast was for less than a half inch, woke up to 2 full inches on elevated surfaces??? Ok, pushed my season total all the way up to 2.5"!
  3. Just found out Eric Elwell is leaving Ch7 WHIO here in Dayton next month to go back to Columbus, not sure where maybe Ch10 WBNS since he worked there briefly before and the old Ohio News Network ONN.
  4. Was he the replacement for Joe Holbrook? We lost him 3 yrs ago at the age of 87. Grew up watching him on ch10 and Jim Ganahl & Ben Gelber on ch4.
  5. I think we topped out very close to a full half inch of freezing rain here on the SE side of Dayton, which should have been a major winter storm, but... I can't really remember the last time we had this much ice since Feb of '94 (1.5" then).
  6. Yea same IMBY, 0.25" to maybe 1/3" of ice, we've had snow in the air on and off over the past week at 38 degrees, then yesterday low of 18 high of 29 with the first winter storm of the season for SW Ohio and it RAINS!!!
  7. I'm coming up to the SW CLE area this weekend to fish for Steelhead in the Rocky River with my brother-in-law, not sure I'm going to be able to dress warm enough (since it was near 90 just a few weeks ago)!
  8. I posted this in a thread somewhere in here a couple years ago, but can't find it, oh well here it goes again: 1. Either Jan of '67 or '68, NW corner of Athens Co, OH, we got 28" of heavy wet snow in 24hrs. When it got cold at night it froze the top 6" so hard you could walk in top of it, us kids carved out big chunks and made igloos. 2. Last week of Feb '80, again in the NW corner of Athens Co, OH, picked up 15" in five hours and it wasn't predicted (forecast was partly cloudy, chance of showers high of 38)! I got snowed in at my college studying for a test and I missed seeing as I was in my buddies dorm room, went to go home and my hand-me-down boat of a Chrysler New Yorker was a lump in the snow! 3. March '08 storm SE side of Dayton, OH, ended up with about 16" over two days. 4. Dec '04 storm, 12" in one day in Dayton no ice or sleet, 2ft of fell 1 county west of me in that storm and 1.5" of ice 1 county SE! 5. Jan 96' tie with Jan '99, the '96 storm buried everyone in the Dayton are in all directions with a foot or more, I got about 6" IMBY for a major bust, buddy of mine's dad got 40" in Lucusville in Ross county). The '99 storm was a foot of snow with almost 2" of ice/sleet pilled on top that ruined it. PS - The Blizzard of '78 was a miss for SE Ohio at the time, warmed up with heavy rain over night, finished with wind blown fluff after the cold wave that day (we already had about 2ft of compressed on the ground at the time from dozens of snows through that winter).
  9. Topping out at 3.63" IMBY, looks like very light showers left for this afternoon. ILN went with 4-6" for most of SW Ohio on Friday (with locally heavier amounts in bands) so I'd say close enough for government work. Oxford just north of Cincy got 4" Thursday from storms ahead of this system, so I think they topped out near 8" for the past 4 days.
  10. About a county or 2 just north of Champaign is getting crushed with over a half foot of rain from training storms this morning and still dumping it: http://www.iweathernet.com/total-rainfall-map-24-hours-to-72-hours set the pull-down to the past 12 hours, those poor people!
  11. Not sure if this is a record, but Christmas Eve '83 was a b**ch in Ohio, here's KDAY: 12/24/1983 7:00PM -15.0°F -43.2°F -27.9°F 52% 30.45in 4.0mi West 23.0mph
  12. I know technically this is a southern Ohio thing, but is there any particular reason it is drier than a popcorn fart in Lancaster thus the 90 degree reading at 1pm?
