  1. This worked out just as I thought. Last night was minor and I was sleeping anyway so I didn't miss much. Today I spent the morning and early afternoon in Butler and just drove south through these snow bursts. A heavy burst right now and about 1.5 inches of snow on the ground. Like I have said before I would rather have the snow falling when we can enjoy seeing it fall as opposed to waking up to it already on the ground and shoveling it. As much as last weeks light snow under-performed, today was an over-performer.
  2. Looking like an inch or less overnight which shouldn't be too bad. What I find interesting is some models are showing a few possible squall lines moving through tomorrow afternoon. It should be interesting to see how scattered or strong they will be.
  3. Looks like Tuesday morning may be our first snowfall. I'm guessing at this point 1-3 or so. LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/... WINTER-LIKE TEMPERATURE EXPECTED EARLY NEXT WEEK... A strong cold front and deep upper level trough is progged to reach the upper OH River Valley late Monday, with rain changing over to snow after the frontal passage. Models remain fairly consistent in this transition by early Tuesday morning, with accumulating snow becoming more likely for all areas. Cold NW flow in the wake of the passing front/trough will keep chances for lake enhanced snow showers through mid-week. Though the finer details on sfc low positioning, location of banded snow, and amount of moisture remaining in the post- frontal environment remain inconsistent, confidence is high that a watch is unlikely as snowfall amounts will likely remain below thresholds. Very strong cold advection behind the front will drop temperature to well below normal areawide through much of the week. Most notably, there is potential for near record to record low maximum temperature Tuesday, with winter-like wind chill expected through Wednesday.
  4. Thanks for starting the new thread. I am ready for a cold snowy winter.
  5. I’m listening to a police scanner out of Montgomery Ohio. Lots of damage from a massive tornado that just went north of Dayton. May be many injuries and fatalities. Very scary.
  6. Just had 45-50 mph gusts with this line that just moved through.
  7. I am cooking lasagna. Weather wise I feel like I’m watching a steeler game and we are 10 point favorites and we are down 21-3 in the first quarter. Ouch
  8. I see Boston is under a winter storm watch for 8-12 inches of snow. It seems like they get at least 2 or 3 of these types of storms a year. Here in pitt anymore we have to wait 4 or 5 years for one!
  9. A touchdown in pick up football, flag football, high school football, college football. A celebration and an exciting ending to an exciting game. In the NFL we have to pick the play apart frame by frame. Overrule it. Ruin an exciting ending to an exciting game. Sorry but let these guys play. Fan or not rules and replay has to change. Now let's get a damn snow storm!!!!!!!
  10. I just had a trip up to Bradford and back today. Hit some nice squalls north of I-80 this afternoon. Bradford has about 6 inches on the ground. Just north of Clarion around Marienville they have close to a foot up through the Allegheny Forest. I guess that's where you need to be to get the snow this year and probably every year.
  11. It sucks that the month of January was way above normal temp wise but also way above normal in precip. A lot of wasted January precip on rain.
  12. Agree. Now maybe we can throw in a thunderstorm or a wind event if we can't have a snowstorm.
  13. Yep. Just give us something to track. Every day the long term models show storms only to see warm up and nothing.
  14. It's easy to get frustrated but it is early. We know what the odds are for us getting into the bullseye but something to watch. The storm is there and the precip is there. Now it is time to wait. At least we have some extreme cold before the storm. I am holding out hope that the extreme cold pushed the last storm south of us. Maybe this time it will knock it south and put us in the snow path. Either way it looks like a front end back end snow at least.
  15. I was in Plum, Holiday Park for this storm. I worked in town and my drive at 7:00 am took 2 hours. I worked on the 7th floor of the Union National Building and I remember it was snowing so hard you could barely see the buildings across the street and it was big flakes too. Drove home at lunch time and had to leave my car in a lot on rt 286 and walk home and get it the next day. Those were the days.
  16. F these systems F these systems F these systems. WTOD Damn! Okay I feel better now. At least I got to see Pitt beat Notre Dame
  17. Wow what a horrible sports weekend! We better get some snow this week now so us weenies can be happy!
