As much as it pains me to say it, there is a chance of some frozen over the next 10 days. But I’d overall put the chances on it pretty low.

Man the video feed from the Central Sierra Snow lab has been pretty epic.

They are rare in general. Better area for ice is near ORH spine and most especially NH and ME.

Many times the total ice shown is way too high. I think even the FRAM can be high because as you know...that stuff can fall and blow off surfaces that it tries to adhere on.

Part of it is due to the strong winds too. That and the instability especially below 700mb keeps the streamers persistent. As to why there are so many of them...I think that has to do with how low the inversion height is. It's down to about 700mb so think that helps keep weaker, but more persistent bands of clouds and flurries.
