  1. I'm not a spotter and I'm not going out to try and measure a tree limb, but I'd say we're close to 0.25" with actual icicles forming on the wires and trees around here. Just had a heavy burst of rain which took my backyard station up to 33, but I'm not sure if that's just latent heat from the rain on my sensor, or if we have indeed gone above freezing. Weather app still says it's 31 here.
  2. Per my radar, it looks like dry slot #2 is approaching Schuylkill County...
  3. Strange. Once the heavier precip came back in I shot up from 27 to 32 on my backyard station and 31 on my weather app. I can't see us holding on below freezing at the surface for much longer considering such a rapid rise.
  4. We just went from advisory to warning here in Schuylkill County. Text mentions accretion of .25" or more of ice.
  5. Freezing drizzle here now. Wires, snow pack, and exposed car surfaces are beginning to ice up. And it's only 27 degrees here as well. Gonna be another morning of thawing out the Jeep so I can go to work if surface temps are slow to warm...
  6. My wife watches WNEP in the morning before work, so I happened to catch Joe Snedeker's forecast this morning, and after the initial show of snow, he said the precipitation would be "showery" the rest of the day. So far, he seems to have barked up the right tree...
  7. I'm still here. I don't leave until Saturday. It's too bad it's not a pleasure trip. I'm going out to help my mom (per her request) to sort through things to sell, donate, and/or trash.
  8. Now why does it have to wait until the 4th to do that? I'll be in Phoenix until the 2nd. Why can't that happen during the week of the 25th to the 1st?
  9. Heavy, but fine snow here in Tamaqua. Started snowing about 45 minutes to an hour ago, and we may have a half inch already. Intensity is good, but the flakes size at the moment isn't.
  10. LOL...I was sitting waiting for my basketball team to come out from their game down at PSU Brandywine. Quick glance at small text on my phone and I saw Milltown instead of Millville. Probably because my 51 year old eyes are getting tired... Thanks! Sorry about getting your name wrong, but I was reading on the quick. Looks like they LOWERED eastern Schuylkill County down a couple of inches.
  11. Milltown, you didn't really mention I-81 north into Schuylkill County.
  12. I won't be digging. I'll be in Phoenix watching from afar...lol
  13. Toughest ice pack I can ever remember was one back in January 2008. I drove a Mack Granite tri-axle dump truck with a steel dump body back then. The thing weighed 28,000 lbs empty, and when I drove into the quarry where I was supposed to pick up a load, I rode on top of the unplowed ice pack. It was amazing. Needless to say, the quarry folks sent all the trucks back home that morning...
  14. Well, at least I'm scheduled off on Wednesday. Thursday morning may be a different story. Run from Hazleton down through Jim Thorpe to Palmerton, then down to Sands Casino in Bethlehem. The first part from Hazleton to Palmerton is going to be (d)icy...lol
  15. Didn't leave State College until 5:15pm. By that time the precip had started. It was a mix until I got up to I-80, then it was all snow. The interstate completely caved by the time I got to the Lock Haven exit, and it was snow covered all the way to Milton. Fun times...
  16. I'm just hoping the group is ready to load, and we can roll out before the flakes fly.
  17. Yup. And I have to be in State College at 3:45pm this afternoon.
  18. Seriously??? Up here, the ground is still frozen pretty good and most garden areas are under at least some patchy areas of snow.
  19. I have to go out to State College tomorrow to pick up local students who attended Thon at PSU and bring them back to Hazleton. Have to be at the Bryce Jordan Center for 3:45pm, so I'm "hoping" the onset of snow is somewhat delayed and I can get in and out and headed back east before the flakes fly...
  20. Don't fret. I'm going to Phoenix from 2/23 to 3/2. That means it'll be warm here and cold there. Winter will return on 3/3 once I'm back here. Lately, cold weather seems to follow me around like a black cloud.
  21. That cold better get OUT of Arizona before I get there on the 23rd. Nothing worse for me than heading somewhere warm and ending up in a cold pattern while I'm there...
  22. I've gone from 28 to 30 over the past few hours, but with heavy drizzle, ice is really starting to accrete here. I'm going to have an interesting drive to Mt Airy Casino in Mt Pocono tomorrow morning if we don't get above freezing.
  23. That's what's going on up here. Varying intensity means varying p-types...
