CON to your area did well. Steined up here again. Hopefully we get a synoptic misery mist day soon. Monday is still looking wedgie for us.

it was kind of funny, i woke up at around 2:30 to take a leak. looked out the window and it hadn't rained yet. Radar didn't look like it had much heading my way. must have poured in the 30 mins or so while i was snoring

I swear Twitter is a forum to formulate a cult led by a handful of know it alls and a bunch of brainwashed weather enthusiasts

I think the same can be said about any subject, not just weather

  3. i was a bit sad when i went off to college, but in reality i could not get out of the house fast enough. Party Time!

then i was home for a weekend a few weeks later. unless they are going to a school really far away, they will be back for a visit before you know it. of course, they will be wicked hungover, and have enough dirty laundry to clothe a small village for mom to take care of.

    0.99” on the day.

By no means a drought buster, but not bad. .38” of steady light rain this morning, and then the deluge that added in tonight.

pretty much the same at mi casa, except for the timing. 0.6" from a 3pm deluge, 0.3" from steady light rain later on.

When do we start the lawn repairs in CT…aerate, overseeding? I’m thinking around labor day, depending on the weather. Thoughts?

Labor day weekend is the perfect weekend to do it. nights are getting cooler, days are stil nice and warm to grow grass. although down were you are in the banana belt you could get away with it 1-2 weeks later. i do mine early so it has a chance to grow before leaf sucking season

They are literally handing out fines to anyone caught watering outside in many towns in this area. The town of scituate I believe had already handed out over 100 citations I believe.

Those restrictions extend to private well water too in many areas. So you can be fined for watering even if you have your own well

yeah, that's not even funny. my parents house used to be on city water, with a well for irrigation. many folks in town had the same setup. most would have a sign out front stating that well water was in use so they wouldn't get hassled.

Nice sunset tonight after decent rain showers...again. The loons are out tonight, haunting sounds echoing off the water.

Also, These folding lawn chairs from the 1960s or 70s are more comfortable than the ADK chairs.

Get a ladder and a long stick, and give it a whack.  If they sting the crap out of you, it will be a great winter.  If you escape unscathed...dead ratter.

what happens if I fall off the ladder? no winter for me?

Nah!  The summer when the nests in northern Maine were 10-15 feet off the ground, the following winter (1982-83) saw a January thaw wipe out almost all the cover.  That winter's deepest pack, 24", was the lowest of our 9 full winters there.  The next summer most nests were near the ground and winter 83-84 was the only one in which my 61" snow stake needed an extension.
(May not apply to SNH )

it's the first one that i have seen hanging from a tree branch in a very long time. usually they are attached to a house somewhere. although a couple years ago i saw one attached to the top of the outlet of a culvert pipe

Yep. I glanced at radarscope and saw the purple pixels just to my west. Looked out the window and it was hailing.
