The risk over there is very low. I wouldn't worry about a thing other than some crazy snap lockdown. The virus itself shouldn't be a concern.

I'm vaccinated and it was not a concern.  I've just been waiting for travel restrictions to ease so I can make plans.

Sorry, read it a few days ago online but don't have time to dig back to find the link.  Hoping to go to England in September, so I have been trying to keep up with what is happening.  Fairly high vaccination rates, so hospitalizations and deaths are way down from what they were in the last peak.

The counts for cases and probably hospitalizations have been off all along. There was data from the UK NHS that many of the people hospitalized for COVID actually came in for something totally unrelated and only tested positive later, yet they are called a "COVID hospitalization" in the numbers all the same.

Deaths are probably also a little off, but there may be errors in both directions so it may be a wash. Time will tell.

Not correct about the UK.  Many had not tested positive before they were hospitalized because they had not yet been tested.  They came in with Covid symptoms and did test positive after being admitted.

  4. On the Outer Cape for two weeks. Went for a bike ride midday and it was a little cool. Turned onto the bike path in Eastham heading south and within a quarter mile literally rode thru the warm front. Suddenly it was warm and humid. 21 miles later I was drenched. Now it is 79 and a sauna!

  5. Any chance it will be closed?
I doubt it. I don't think they could block off the access road like they can for the beach. It it is closed, just go a little bit north to Lecount Hollow Road to Ocean View Drive. Plenty of good spots all along the Outer Cape. Good luck.

  6. OK folks. I have the day off. All day to myself. Starting point is Dennis. I'll go anywhere from here to ptown. Taking a vote... Need help.
Head to Marconi Station in Wellfleet. High above the ocean. 360 views. No trees to fall on you.

Thunder in Randolph. Deluge incoming. Temp down to 55. At least England is up 1-0 on Ukraine. Grilling steaks should be fun this evening.

For the runners (or cyclists etc ) in here.
Do you run when the temps are super high?

I ask this because I saw people out running when my car temp was showing 97F (5:15PM) yesterday.
I understand if you do the running in the early morning before it gets super hot...but 97?  That seems unwise.

I'm about to go out on the bicycle now, but it will definitely be a shorter ride than usual.  Planned to go out earlier, but had to do some work stuff first.  Lots of shade on my ride which does help.  Years ago I probably would have gone out midday or in the afternoon, but I am 67 now so a bit more cautious.  Also, on days like this I ride about a 2.5 mile loop from home so I can always cut it short if necessary.

  9. Went to Wegmans in Westwood today, and it was about 80 to 90 percent masked, myself included. Mask is no big deal to me, and I have enjoyed not even catching a cold for more than a year. On the commuter rail yesterday, and masks will still be required.
