National Grid's estimate for our area in Randolph is late tomorrow evening. Will definitely be our longest outage ever. Can't imagine what it will be like when the "big one" finally hits NE. No generator, but good headlamps, lanterns and power banks for charging phones and tablets. Also we are able to light our gas stove for cooking. Good insulation, so house only dropped to 59 overnight. Yard is a mess, so I know what I will be doing on Sunday.

Finally lost power at about 6:45. Think it's gonna be a while.

Miraculously we still have power, but this has been nuts. Up since 3:00 with all the noise. Keep thinking it is letting up and it just comes roaring back. Can't imagine what the coast is like.

Get a good headlamp. Much better. I grill all winter.Man another sign I’m getting older. Absolutely hate that it’s dark by 6pm. Was grilling the other night with a flash light. Hate to see it.

If we can keep the torch going through the end of the month and into November the snow will have a hard time sticking to the warm pavement when it eventually comes.
Nah, the angle of the sun will compensate for it especially if the snow falls at night.

Airline tickets are definitely pricier than 18 months ago. Maybe once they have recouped some of the lost revenues, prices might drop. Fewer flights now too, at least on Aer Lingus. Going to London for a few days, then back north before I head home. Might go to the Huddersfield v Blackburn match on Tuesday. Definitely enjoyed last night's City match more than Saturday's!I just looked into tickets BOS > MAN in February. Would head to Huddersfield to see family and Liverpool to catch the Reds take on Norwich (scintillating matchup, I know). The plane tickets were pretty pricey. I have enough airline miles to cover 2 round trip tickets but the extra fees added up to almost $600 each. It’s pretty far out so I’ll check again as we get closer.

Was there in 2005. Skye was great, and we loved Edinburgh. If you like Whisky, make sure you hit a distillery or two. Haggis! We are thinking of Scotland in 2023 or so. Anyone ever do a trip there?

Any areas in mind yet? I've done a number of trips to Manchester and the northwest. If you are heading to that area, I am happy to give some suggestions.HimoorWx Great pictures! Hoping for an England and Ireland trip next year with my wife and child.

Incredible area. 45 minute train ride from Manchester, then 10 minute walk to trails.

Not the weather I expect to find in the North of England in September. Bluebird skies in the Peaks!

City were poor, so many misplaced passes0-0 probably not the result you expected against Southampton. How was the game, from a neutral perspective though?
One shot on goal. Scored late but ruled offside. Not sure. Southampton defended well but started wasting time early. Sadly a draw was the correct result. Oh well, ready for a hike in the Peaks and back to the Etihad on Tuesday. Cheers.

Aer Lingus is using an app called Verifly. You can load your vaccination info and passenger locator form to speed up the check-in process. Meanwhile, lovely day for a Manchester canal walk. Thanks for the info. Aer Lingus

How was customs and testing? Heading to Ireland in October?
I flew Aer Lingus thru Dublin. Ireland requires proof of vaccination but not proof of a negative covid test before travel. England required both plus I had to do a test within two days of arrival which I did at the Manchester Airport after landing. Already go the negative test result. Both required passenger locator forms, but not a big deal. More hoops than before covid, but in the end not a big deal. Surprised how few are wearing masks over here, but the vaccination rate is higher than the US. Great to be back here. Tomorrow is my first Manchester City match since before Covid. Can't wait!
What airline are you flying? Aer Lingus made things pretty easy.

RIP Don Everly. Harmonies didn't get any better than the Everly Brothers. Major influence on the Beatles and many others.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the storm
That crushed a wretch like me
I once had oaks, but now they're down
Was nice but now no treesWas Grace that tore my roof from me
And Grace, my doors beseiged
How dangerous did that Grace appear
The hours she hammered meThrough many blizzards, storms and canes
We have already come
T'was Grace that was the final blow
When Grace destroyed our home
When Grace destroyed our homeAmazing Grace, how sweet the storm
That crushed a wretch like me
I once had oaks, but now they're down
Was nice but now no trees

Skeeters and gnats (or some other small PIA bug) have been out of control lately. At least the lemon eucalyptus Repel seems to work well.

Was looking forward to something last night even if just a light show but all it did was become breezy for a bit and zilch
Was watching radar as I was trying to do some things in the yard, and I don't think I have ever seen storms and rain go POOF so fast. Not a drop here.
