  1. Lots of refining and storage there Largest refinery in the US
  2. How far back does that record go? 1998 is the oldest on that I would think 1988 would be in that top tier
  3. Port Arthur is heavily industrialized. Refinery stuff plus a nice hazardous waste incinerator. Big environmental disaster incoming on top of the life and property issues
  4. Sadly, my students will not be stinky and sweaty...or if they are I won't be able to smell them. Would Laura have any impact on that slug of heat?
  5. “Remember all the toilet paper we stuck to the year we had no toilet paper” doesn’t sound to engaging
  6. We remember singular events more than a constant drumbeat of whatever in most cases. I remember the 1978 Blizzard or the Monson Tornado or the 2008 Ice Storm I doubt I will regale my grandchildren with the tale of the Great Dewy Summer at BDL in 2020
  7. High of 82F here in August. OMG!!! Overall temps so far this summer have been very much AN. My pool temps attest to that. 3 90+ days here. I think 92 was my highest. Mostly good pool weather. Lots of AC use No record highs though 1988 I didn’t live here but that still sits in my memory as the most miserable summer for me temp wise
  8. We have been very lucky here with regards to rain. I never really got too dry
  9. Of the 4 sites over the two days, I say one site (BDL) will hit 90 1 day
  10. Yeah. That storm was a dud. For which I am pleased.
  11. So much for Marco leaving a wake of cold water to staunch Laura
  12. We have a dogwood we planted in front of our house 19 years ago. It is around 25-30' tall and at its widest around 20' in diameter. It might have gotten a bit bigger but it got damaged pretty badly in the 2008 Ice Storm
  13. 76/68 here. Pool was chilly yesterday. Hoping it heats up a little today
  14. Didn’t you say 7 days of furnace through Friday?
