  1. Beautiful May 5th morning. 37F gusty wind and mostly cloudy. Reminds me of the first real fall cold fronts with quick blowing Cu coming down from the NW. I see Alex and Franconia Notch got some snow earlier. Late week looks interesting. Snow for some? Forest canopy still bare here but ready to open. Going to be a late leafout in this pattern. Such is life in NNE Picture from the top of Cannon Mt this AM
  2. Have not paid much attention to the weather lately. I knew just a cool cloudish week up here. But ouch on the 18Z GFS! Birch bender for sure especially with leaf out begining. Probably a 20% chance of happening.
  3. I'm sorry. He probably promised more snow. Now you get the nice weather. As the country is 95F with a 70F dew you will be comfortable in the 70's.
  4. Noon April 30th 39.3F Light rain NICE
  5. This is a great idea.
  6. It's about May 1rst. Time for a Warm NNE thread. Grass is turning green and the first forsythia is turning yellow in our area. I'll start out the thread with a picture of a bluebird which I just took outside. We put out bird houses a few years ago and the opening size seem perfect for them. Each year they have chicks and the bluebird population is increasing on our property. I had never seen one when we lived in the Boston area.
  7. Last night I received about 1/4" to 1/2" of snow. I'll go with the 1/4" that puts me at 76.25" for the 2019/20 snow season. My guess is this about average for me. It seemed like I had less since there were many more frequent thaws between snowfalls. Many times this season it seemed the rain/snow line was just south of me. I am sure Concord NH had much less and it's only 35 to 40 miles south. Time for a quick greenup. Forest canopy is 100% bare and within a month from now will be in full leaf. Spring and falls seem short up here as compared to when I lived in Baltimore and then Boston. That makes sense as you move poleward on the planet as daylight increases and decreases much faster than periods further south.
  8. 37.3F Light rain on and off most of the day. Slowly changing back to light snow now
  9. Was a bust here for snow. Expected at least 2-3" sloppy inches 36.6F Light rain mixed at times with a few mangled flakes .50" rain About 1/4" of snow last night. Low dropped to 32.7F Looking up at the ridge behind the house it looks snow stuck to trees at the 1500 level. Ground white up there.
  10. 42.7/26 Heavy virga. I really expected heavier precipitation by this time of the evening. Just watching endless virga. Occasionally the mountain ridge tops will become obscured in precip and then visibility increases again. Just can't seem to precipitate very hard. We have had a few sleet showers over the past couple of hours. Is this going to be a big bust?
  11. Nam really cuts back qpf here. Very little happens this evening on this run. Every model run is so different. Dews sure dropped 48.7/18. Noticing visibility well to my SW is dropping. Kearsarge and closer ridge lines still below virga levels.
  12. Just started snowing on the Killington webcam (2pm) https://www.killington.com/the-mountain/webcams/mountain/north-ridge-cam
  13. Your about the same as me. 52.3/28. This is the time I would be having the family argument . Please can't we just stay till tomorrow? Other half. Let's get out of here before any bad weather!
  14. OceanSt, how come you didn't go with a WWA for Grafton County NH? Lots of elevated areas. Most of the population is on the east side of the county.
  15. 12Z GFS is much better for CNE and NNE
  16. Matt and Danielle really cherish their privacy and time with their kids. I was cleaning brush along our wall and in front of his driveway yesterday and could see through the woods they were in the yard. I just hesitate to be too neighborly and walking up the driveway to say hi or to ask Matt what he thinks.
  17. 50.5/29 I don't know what to think. My neighbor who lives 300 feet higher than me has a long steep driveway and messaged me an hour ago and asked me if he should spend time and hitch his plow. I told him if he can hunker in till Wed PM all should melt off of his asphalt driveway but 32/33F snow is heavy and greasy. I put my snowblower away and will just let it melt. If I'm to guess I'm thinking 3 or 4" for me??? Wonder how much qpf I'll waste getting temp down?
  18. I just look at the GFS and the Euro. Seems the GFS has been leading the way in giving us less snow with each run. Now the 18Z GFS seems to be reversing the trend and increasing snowfall amounts up here as compared to the prior run.
  19. 61for a high! Almost made it through the entire month of April without hitting a 60.
  20. The potential is even going away up here. GFS seems to be leading the way will see if Euro follows this afternoon. My guess is it will
  21. It looked big yesterday but not so much today. I don't know why I was cheering on a big 12" birch bender that could cause power issues. Sun coming out strong now as low clouds move SE. Should be the nicest day yet of spring??
  22. !2Z Euro is honking pretty good. Perhaps 12" plus for some higher elevations especially in S VT and S NH. Night time will help a bit too. Is the forest canopy still totally bare down in N Mass. Just wondering of power impacts on trees that are begining to leaf out. I assume things are still bare in areas that could receive snow.
  23. The Euro is honking pretty good today. Seems like this snow event deserves it's own model thread so I created one.
  24. 12Z April 24th models are showing a late season snow event for parts of interior SNE and especially CNE. Could be quite the birch bender for some. We are getting close enough that this potential deserves it's own thread....
