31.6F Thick fog. Gray and wintery today. Light snow started around 8am and gave me about 1/4". Bit of freezing drizzle during the day but temps have remained below freezing. Ceiling has been very low so mostly in low clouds all day. 9" at the snow stake and the snow is dense with quite a bit of sleet mixed in.

Saw that -24F on Alex's weather station. I can't remember but I think he recorded a -34F last year. That might be the lowest temperature since moving to there. I had a balmy 0F up on the hill. Never do good with radiational cooling my best is CAA temps. It is really beautiful around here with the ice on the trees. Starts just north of Tilton NH on Rt 93.

Storm total was about 6" Interesting ride today from Concord NH north to my house. I had mostly sleet yesterday with some freezing drizzle and a bit of freezing rain. Just 5 miles south of me was much heavier freezing rain with all the trees glazed. A really beautiful ride from here to around Brian's area. Around Concord NH the ground was snow covered but only looked like a couple of inches. The hilltops had glaze but lower elevations did not.

Nice sunset tonight. Brian might know where this is. Pretty pathetic snow cover for Feb 4th. That looks to change Thursday/Friday I have been out of the loop for so long. Trying to figure out sensible weather from me to Concord NH on Thur/Friday. Seems like a total mess. I'll take snow but seems like quite a bit of ice will be involved with part 2.

Holy crap. I have not been on the boards or looking at models much lately but just did. What an active pattern coming up starting late this week. So many precipitation types and storms. Winter is going to make a comeback throwing all kinds of stuff at us.

Just checking in. 3-4" of hard packed snow at the house. Just did a 120 miles of driving, Newfound Lake to Dartmouth to Concord. Very thin snow cover the whole way. Bare ground in just about all places except on my hill. Well less than 50% coverage in Concord. Very quiet weather pattern which for personal reasons makes me very happy.

Hi Guys (and Diane). I have been missing in action the past week to 10 days. My husband caught Pneumonia over 3 weeks ago and it has been quite the battle. At first it was not too bad with home care but by last weekend he was in the hospital. Things got worse and worse and we almost lost him on Monday in ICU. He has been on a ventilator since then but finally today came off and is doing better but he has a strange fungal infection and they told me to expect several more weeks in the hospital. That is the only downside of living in NNE away from big medical centers. So give your love ones an extra hug because life can change in a flash. Taking a hospital break and looking at what might happen this evening. 4pm 33.1/32F here. Was 32.7/31 when I got home 2 hours ago. Noticed Euro gives me a few sloppy inches this eve but seems too warm?

My afternoon high today was 8F, low -1.2F although I was at 14F at midnight. Will today be the coldest high afternoon temp of the season? Next Tuesday might be colder. We are just about at the climatological lowest temperatures of the year about now.

Some light snow has begun for tonight's little system 31.8/28 Seems like winter finally arrives for NNE. Bit of snow tonight. Then the Thursday system. Arctic air with upslope after that. Then the weekends storm. GFS has a 960mb storm crossing the area in fantasy land around next weekend. Let's just hope it's not a cutter to bring a big melt but like I said that's fantasy land. During this time enough cold air for the duration so there will be no melting

It's Sunday evening and I'm safely back under freezing. Yeah, that was quite the thaw. Snow is around my parts of Central NH is still mostly intact in the woods and below about 800 feet. The hills really took the brunt as they stayed in the warm air all day yesterday, through the night and all day today. Down below it was cooler all and all and there was less wind. In a way Im happy we got wiped clean. It's only very temporary with winter storms looming for later this week. The warmth cleared the ice dams on the north side of the house and the deer are out happily munching in the fields and finding old apples and acorns. Its a good chance for them to get a couple days worth of nutrients before we recoat the landscape. Newfound Lake is only 1/2 ice covered and no one has put Bob houses on the ice yet. Pretty unusual for mid January. The people with snowmobiles must be very unhappy. Very little sledding this year. The ski resorts can start making snow again now. Several winter storms on the horizon so part 2 of winter resumes now.

I bet you don't loose your pack. You go above 40F for 36 hours and probably never hit 50F. Storms lined up for next week. You'll be fine. I doubt I loose my pack either but hopefully a few bare patches for my herd of deer

My dentists is also a photographer. Last night the full moon and clear skies worked out to get this great picture

Nice nippy January day. Mid teens look to be the high for me. Waiting on Euro to see ice potential for later this weekend.. I'm still excited about Brian's squall last night. A few hours with bursts of squalls to give 7" is to be remembered. Happy Birthday Scott Alex, thanks for fixing your cam. Perfect view of the summit of Mt Washington Diane, next time I'll make sure you are working before I visit PS You can tell I don't like handles. Jeez, this isn't a political forum. We all get along up here

Getting dark to the west. Always interesting to see what makes it over the mountains. Meanwhile, it looks like quite the icestorm potential later this weekend for someone. Will it be S Quebec or NNE? Seems these ice storm products are always over done but even 1/2 of these amounts would cause big problems.

As I await the fropa and snow squalls I'll post this picture. So many frickin deer in our apple orchard last night. Bucks and does. I can see a dozen or more yarding up in the woods right now. We had a bumper crop of apples but they are now about gone. Lots of working digging through the 5-8" of that sleet/freezing rain/snow combo from last week . Here is a picture of the activity from the past 24 hours. The 3.75" of snow from two days ago had covered the old tracks so this is from last night. I know you are not suppose to feed deer any food and I don't anymore but since they all yard up behind the house I figure that I might buy some deer apples and scatter them around each day. That is what they have been eating the past couple of months so it's not changing their metabolism. They are smart and know the south facing slope will always have less snow and be the first to melt off so they stick around the house each winter. Wonder if this weekends warmth will be enough to melt some bare spots? Probably not since this snow has so much water content and is very durable.

We took a ride up to Alex's today. 9" at the snow stake here but only a few inches in the Plymouth to Lincoln area. Snow cover becomes deeper north of Franconia Notch. A local photographer was in front of our house this afternoon and posted this picture of our road. Nothing special, fairly typical January day. The weekend situation seems like it's becoming a warmer solution. Really warm in the east coast cities. Mid 60's

21 Partly cloudy flurries We just had a crazy snow squall. 1.25" in about 20 or 30 minutes During the day today light snow gave me just under 1.50" before the squall. Nice little 2.75" event. More streamers seem to be coming west to east towards me. I usually don't pay much attention because the Greens capture most everything. Didn't work this evening

1145am Monday Light to almost moderate snow 22F.
-
Calm day today. Newfound Lake is still open. Usually by now we have the lake mostly frozen.
-
I like my location as far as the boards go because I'm 17 miles north north west of Brian and 600 to 700 feet higher. Many people are saying Congrads Dendrite so I can take their posts and his forecast and know that usually I'll score a tick or 2 better.
-
I was just looking up New Sharon Maine, trying to get a feel on where the NNE posters are. I think you might be the furthest north of everyone. Alex and Pfreak are slightly south of due west of you.
-
Bit over 1/4" in flurries last night brings me to 30" for the season. Lots of weather possibilities in the future. No super arctic air which is fine by me but hopefully cold enough to start building up the pack.
-
Light snow 31.9F Almost 1/4" so far. Lots of snowshowers and squalls to the west. Forecasted to weaken. We will see.
-
Idiots are out on Newfound Lake walking on very thin ice. I took the drone up yesterday. Lake just skimmed over a few nights ago but days have been above freezing with nights in the upper 20's. This really puts first responders at risk. New snow will cover this thin ice tonight making things very dangerous all week without any arctic blast to follow. Drone video over Newfound that I took Sat PM

Struggling up to 30F at noon. Light freezing rain. Main roads are fine but the hill dirt roads are ice skating rinks. I have lots of errands to do but can't get off my hill yet.
