  2. The cannabis harvest is going to be great this year. Had to bring this girl in to cool her off for a bit.. she couldn't handle the dews...
  3. 92/77. What an epic summer here on the shoreline. HVN was +4.3 for July and is +6 for August. The overnight lows have been running around 80 the last few nights and with the sound 80+ its like Miami down here.
  4. Try this. https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/coastal-water-temperature-guide/natl.html Most of Long Island Sound is 80 degrees which is way above normal. A friend on his boat said the water was 83 degrees in the harbor. Normal temp for New London is 72 and they are currently at 80.
  5. 90/74. What a summer here on the CT shoreline. A thermometer on a friends dock on the sound has been at 82 all week.
  6. I am jealous. Congrats to sticking it to Eversource for 11 years!
  7. Another record month for solar production....
  8. Perfect timing for the Aug 1st rate increase. The energy service rate for New Hampshire Electric Co-op will go up 77%, Liberty Utilities will jump 100% and Eversource's rate will rise by 112%.
  9. Recent article I saw on it from Matt Noyes. If you want warm water come to the sound. Water temps have been around 80 for the last 2 weeks here. https://www.nbcboston.com/weather/stories-weather/why-is-the-ocean-water-so-cold-near-the-north-shore-this-summer/2776675/
  10. $600 MWH is nothing compared to whats coming this winter. Natural gas futures are at record highs this incoming winter...
  11. Bad sensors. I'm sure the sensor crew will come and talk about it soon...
  12. GON is making up for the disappointment with another 90 for the high today.
  13. 81/72. Nice launch for some big heat and dews
  14. 89/72. The dews have been spectacular. Feels like Miami here on the shoreline.
  15. 78/72. The overnight lows here on the shore have been an absolute furnace. I live in an all solar electric house and track my cooling degree days. I'm close to +100 on CDD mtd. Average CDD for HVN is 192 mtd and they are currently at 286. HVN is also +4 for temperature departures this month.
  16. HVN is 90/79. https://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/meso_base_dyn.cgi?stn=Khvn&unit=0&timetype=LOCAL
  17. Some extra special dews down here this morning. Just hit a dew of 80. 88/80 HVN reporting 88/79.
  18. Just spectacular dews and heat here this morning. 82/76 at my house already.
  19. What a furnace there overnight.
  20. The lightning out on the sound today has been insane. I think someone said they saw 400 strikes a min at one point.
  21. What an overnight furnace. 79/75
  22. You need some solar panels on that roof. If the back is facing south you have a perfect roof pitch and zero shade. You would kill it with solar production. Speaking of solar production. Looks like July is heading for another record production month. July has been basically 13 straight sunny days with the last 7 days being clear sunny maximum production days. April, May, and June of this year were record months for production. Its been exceptionally sunny here the last few months.
  23. Congrats Texas. I also read they broke records for highest electricity demand. Of the ten possible heat records yesterday (high minimum temperature and high temperature at five first order climate sites), we managed to tie or break nine of them! Here`s a quick summary: Climate Site | Min Temp | Record High Min Temp (Year) ---------------------------------------------------------- City of Houston | 82 | 81 (2009) Houston Hobby | 81 | 80 (2020) Galveston | 85 | 83 (2021) College Station | 80 | 80 (2009) Palacios | 84 | 83 (2020) Climate Site | Max Temp | Record High Temp (Year) ----------------------------------------------------- City of Houston | 105 | 101 (1998) Houston Hobby | 104 | 100 (1964) Galveston | 96 | 96 (1931) College Station | 111 | 109 (1917) Palacios | 95 | 99 (2005) As astute followers of Southeast Texas climate will know (or anyone who takes a quick glance at the tables should be able to infer), record high min temperatures in this area have fallen at a pretty rapidly clip this century. The afternoon high temperature records have not been falling at quite the same pace, so to have a day where so many records at both ends of the day fall really speaks to just how extreme this July 10 is in the historical record. To really drive it home, College Station`s high of 111 is the second highest max temperature on record, going back to 1888. It is only one degree off the all-time record high temperature for the city, which was recorded on September 4, 2000. It is the hottest July day on record for College Station, eclipsing the 110 mark last seen on July 11, 1917. Houston`s 105 degree mark matches the July record mark, last seen July 26, 1954. However, it is not the hottest mark so early in the year, as June 29, 2013 did reach 107. It also is "only" the 17th hottest day in the official record for the city. Hobby`s 104 degree high does put it in the top 10 all time, tying it for 8th. But it is neither a record mark for July, nor for so early in the year, as it fell one degree short of July 8, 1939 (and also June 29, 2013). Persistent onshore flow meant that while Galveston still saw a daily record today, it fell fairly far down the all-time record ledger. Its high of 96 is not good enough for even the top 50 all- time, and only good for tenth on the list of July records. This is mainly because the really extreme days at Galveston tend to come when onshore winds are suppressed, and can really spike when offshore westerlies can advect some hotter, mainland air over the Island. Finally, newcomer Palacios just couldn`t keep pace with the more established first order climate sites. It did manage to set a new record high minimum temperature yesterday, but fell four degrees short of its record high from 2005. Like Galveston, Palacios` location very near the water likely moderated afternoon highs slightly, keeping the site from really threatening those record highs.
  24. Was pretty warm on the CT coast today with some good dews most of the day. High temps. HVN 89 GON 88 BDR 87
