Unless you were copying and pasting a weather app.. this week always looked like sunny and mild to warm Monday and Tuesday with a one day mild down Thursday and Friday rebound with some fake cool nights.  Whenever the sun is out this time of year you add on at least 5 degrees to machine numbers .

Looks like a nice week of 70s/80s coming up.

HVN had a very late high of 78 today at 6pm and was the highest temperature recorded in the state. Around here it was between 74-79 from just after noon to mid-evening. Warmest day of the year so far. Still amazing to think it was in the low to mid 90s a year ago. That's truly wild for mid April. April 2021 at this time (3 years ago) you got warning snowfall.

    BDR hit 79 yesterday.

My coworker said there’s still traffic coming back from northern Vermont.

Yeah. I just got in. Took about 5 hours from Middlebury. My friend said it took 11 hours from Burlington to CT yesterday. Was crazy seeing all the out of state license plates. Tons of people from CA, Oregon, Washington, etc.

  4. If anyone plans on taking 91 there was a bridge being replaced in Massachusetts when I drove up there for skiing Presidents day weekend. On the way back Monday there was a huge delay coming home at that bridge with everyone heading home where it went to 1 lane.

I imagine the traffic there is going to be nuts with people heading south after the eclipse.

I've got family in the Albany, NY area and there's been talk of purchasing land in southern VT to build a second home (to be roughly equidistant between us). Family likes the Manchester area, but I've been bombarding them with Dover listings. I haven't explained to them why they are all above 2200ft, but they haven't asked (or noticed).

Property taxes in VT are outrageous compared to upstate NY. There are going to be huge increases next year in VT property taxes.  Have you looked at the property taxes in Manchester and Dover compared to the Albany area?

A new estimate puts the projected average property tax bill increase next year at more than 20%.

Is the St of VT cash paid by the taxpayer?

No. I believe they used federal DOT funding.

    State Incentives

Vermont's National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Planning

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) NEVI Formula Program requires the Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) to submit an annual EV Infrastructure Deployment Plan (Plan) to the DOT and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Joint Office of Energy and Transportation (Joint Office), describing how the state intends to distribute NEVI funds. The submitted plans must be established according to NEVI guidance(PDF).

  7. If anyone in VT is looking to go electric for a vehicle the rebates up there are the best in the US.

This is from a recently purchased f150 lighting.

Green Mountain Power is also offering charging at significantly reduced rates of .13 kwh. The math works out at those rates that the savings over gas are astronomical.

  8. From Don Sutherland on the NYC forum.

Under variably cloudy skies and the lack of an onshore breeze, coastal sections saw the mercury rise to daily records. Daily record highs included:

    Bridgeport: 72° (old record: 65°, 1990)
    Islip: 73° (old record: 67°, 1990)
    New Haven: 65° (old record: 61°, 2022)
    New York City-JFK Airport: 72° (old record: 65°, 1986)
    Westhampton: 69° (old record: 62°, 2014)

It was a cold day.  41/34 is the spread since last night at midnight at the local ASOS.

    Normal is 38/16.

+11.5 halfway through March is absolutely insane.  Has to be rivaling the top first half of March departures on record.

Were you up there in 2007? I lived in BTV in 05-07 when my wife was finishing up at UVM. We were just reminiscing about a freezing cold St Patrick's day party in 07 back when BTV actually got cold... haha

I'm so glad I got to experience that winter up there including that Valentines day storm. The amount of subzero temps that winter was nuts. I don't think I'll ever experience a winter like that again.

You can always find work if you own one too but when I get one it will fit in my garage lol. You can’t be anal about a clean truck like ditty but always have it out in those dangerous elements he’s constantly facing. The high winds, scorching heat, crushing severe, major ice storms, and snowy winters must be tough on a truck outside.

    Look at midsized trucks.

I bought a Ford Ranger last year. Looked at the Tacoma's and Colorados as well. Awesome little truck that even my wife can drive. 4cyl turbo that often gets around 26 mpg.

@Damage In Tolland nothing but clean trucks down here..
