It's dark like the last few minutes before sunrise with unending rumbling and the wind is building and starting to roar. Good shit.

That large cell heading NE looks like it's gonna get most of us. Yay
-
~2.3 overnight. The range within 1 mile of my house is 1.7 to the south and 2.72 to the north.
-
Stations within a mile of my house range from a low of 1.7 a mile south to a high of 2.72 a mile north since midnight. Ridin' that thin line...

Passing 1" now with more super heavy rain and small hail. Thankfully the first round of hail didn't do any damage I can see but it was crazy loud.
-
Passing 1" now. Guess I didn't need to water the hanging baskets yesterday huh.
-
This was the most intense t-storm I've had in a long time here. It was certainly the most intense hailstorm in years and a great light and sound show. Our poor dog is still crying in bed, it sounded like a war with the hail hitting the house and she had a minor meltdown.

Holy crap! This is an intense storm, insanely heavy rain, lotsa wind, near constant thunder and lightning and heavy large hail mixed in. Boom!
-
I just watered a little while ago, the strawberries in hanging pots were starting to wilt.

Yeah I did too. That's a lot of water moving through the park but I didn't see the destruction I expected. There was actually very little around town especially considering what I thought there'd be. Some spots where creeks feed into the lakes were messy with some roads still covered but all told I think we skated through this one.

Unbelieveable overnight rains. Red Mills is mess and 6N
I heard 6N was closed. I bet the park at the corner of Hill St is a wreck.

I just looked through a bunch of local stations, the range is from a low of ~6.5" to a high of 8.3. The streets are a mess from the runoff, there are branches, rocks and lots of gravel but otherwise it's not too bad at all but it sounds like a mess down in town and along the Croton River.

Totals around my hill yesterday ranged from just over 5" to 6.2 and so far today it's from 1.5 to 1.8.
-
Torrential downpour now, so loud it woke us up! 1.5" already today.
-
Wow, is that water just about up to the barrier top? Damn.
Pouring again here, approaching 4". One station on the north side at the bottom of the hill is almost at 5" now.
-
The difference in amounts here shows exactly where the front is hung up. Within a mile to my west there's 1" more and 2 miles west is 2" more than 2 miles east of me. Just the difference from the NW side of the hill to the SE is over an inch. Pretty cool.

This obviously isn't going to make up for the almost 2 year deficit but I think the soil moisture levels will be sufficiently replenished (at least a few feet down). Unless something dramatic happens most of us on wells shouldn't have too much to worry about this summer.
The reservoirs around here are certainly as full as they can be, a few are already over the spillway. I bet the falls by the Croton Dam are impressive right now, that res was absolutely bankfull this morning.
-
Numbers around my hill are ranging from 2.4>3.6 and another very heavy shower just moved in. The volume of water running off the hill is impressive. I'm glad I don't live at the bottom!
-
It's been varying between moderate and heavy rain for a little bit now with some long, low rumbles of thunder. Soggy...
-
Looks like we're gonna get a thorough soaking later

So what time should I go out to soap the cars up before they get a nice freshwater rinse?

Yep 72/70 here too but with very dense fog. Yuck.

a major with wind gusts over 120mph will destroy our power grid. Think PR after Maria. No power for months.
What a wonderful lead into the weekend. Thanks man

I just had an intense core move over that dropped over 2" in 25 minutes. It's still pouring and adding up but damn, that was insane.
