1.12 since last night. Leaves are out, flowers are blooming and it's looking mighty springy other than the grey and dreary part.
-
.75 now, just a good steady soaking rain for the last hour or so.

Plume of moisture beginning offshore in SC heading towards NYC metro. Looks like an all day event on tap.
That should make people traveling for Passover and Easter happy

.22” here last night, event total of .23” thus far
.52. It was raining really hard a little while ago but let off some now. If that whole firehose moving up the NJ shore comes through here we'll probably meet the high end forecast of 1.5.

What a snow drought between 96-97 and 01-02. My only memorable snowstorms during that stretch were the March 99 surprise and the one near the end of December 2000.
And those were the first 5 years I owned my ski/snowboard shop It was a good thing I also sold bikes

I’m leaning towards the under on the rainfall tonight up here, we shall see.
Yeah it sure looks like a bunch of the rain slid by to our west already doesn't it.

It sure was. Low to mid 70's with a nice breeze always makes for a nice day.

PA continues to run ahead of OK in the tornado count. The 3 tornadoes in PA with this storm plus the one in January gives them 4 on the year so far.
https://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/online/monthly/newm.html
Annual tornado numbers
2019....PA...4....OK....0....so far
2018....PA...31..OK....24
2017....PA...26..OK....62
2016....PA....9...OK....55
2015....PA...12..OK....111
That's pretty amazing. I had no idea that happened last year. Whoda thunk, PA over OK.

That was a pretty good t-storm, plenty of thunder, some lightning, a good couple of minutes of strong wind and a whole bunch of rain in a short time. Looks like .7-.75" and I only lost a few branches off the tallest trees.

Soggy, foggy night goin' on out there. Blech....

Record high minimums around the area yesterday. Quite the subtropical warmth and moisture surge into the area with the near record PWATS. Like a spring version of the recent summer record warm minimums and high dew points since 2015.
Yuck. The inference that we are still stuck in that loop is disturbing.

I can see the blue sky off to my south but it's solid overcast here.

Boy tomorrow night and Monday morning are looking like fun. A couple of inches of rain and a bunch of wind. Yay

Record warm minimum so far of 61 at Newark for today. So temperatures will be off to the races once we get some breaks of sun. It’s only been one year since we set the previous record of 58 degrees.

Newark record warmest minimum for 4/13

Yep. Lotsa rain overnight. Looks like ~1.4" over the last day and nearly 2" for the week.
-
What dry? We got absolutely drenched up here on Tuesday afternoon. It poured for a while.
-
That was some seriously heavy rain yesterday and the lightning was pretty good too.
-
Yeah when that temp dropped last night it happened in a hurry. My wife and I went for a walk while we waited for the Chinese restaurant to make our dinner and in the 15 minutes we were wandering around downtown it dropped nearly 20*. It was a good thing the wind was at our backs as we finished or it would have been unpleasant. This morning is dense fog again, a couple hundred feet visibility at best.
-
Doesn't get much more dreary than this. Super dense fog and everything is soggy from the rain overnight.

I always knew you were a slant sticker, might as well just go with eyeball measurements now....I have a little pile of sleet and snow piled up against the north side of one of my sugar maples, so I’m going with .2 here then...,
Yeah the north side of the cars in the driveway still has a white coating on the ground so I'll go with .2 also. Just because...

Well, I can add another 0.4" to my season snow total...
Back to mostly rain now.
I've got snow going now, it's accumulating on the sleet that accumulated earlier. Tough to measure little patches though, just say it doesn't look very springlike out there right now.
I saw sleet, ice pellets and snowflakes all the way down into northern NJ along the Palisades and then it was sleet snow through Bear Mt and all sleet by the time I got here in the eastern hinterlands around 6.

You can build up a tolerance for it, if you drink lots of water etc. The humidity is a killer though. I've done rides in the low 90s with relatively low humidity. If you're not trying to race up hills its not so bad. Last summer I rode very little cuz it was always extremely humid. 75+ dewpoints seemed almost daily at one point. Even temps in the low 80s wit that humidity it was hard to do any activity beyond stand still.
Until I get to move to the FL Keys I don't want to build up a tolerance for it. Yeah I didn't ride much last year either because of the weather and a busted left hand that made it difficult to hold a handlebar. I paid for the inactivity with a heart attack in December due to laziness and lost fitness So see what ya can do about keeping the humidity down this year so I can get out and ride more comfortably would ya please

I'm closer to HPN than POU but beat them both by a good bit in rainfall. Looks like 1.1" here for late night 19th through the 20th.
