  1. Just want to give a huge shoutout to @CT Rain for using meteorological knowledge, pointing out upper level conditions as a plus factor last night vs hugging snow maps to at least not overly pare back totals in CT like some of the more amateur folks on Twitter and elsewhere who rolled out like 5 forecasts and overly bought into the modeling whipsaw.
  2. KOKX - Super-Res Reflectivity 4 9:22 AM #ctwx #nywx Higher beam scan shows central CT about to explode on radar
  3. I just checked out the 20z HRRR and saw some eye popping shadings on there for CT… any Mets concerned or are these #s likely inflated?
  4. BOX did a great job with their wind advisories and high wind warnings
  5. 9 out of 10 wind events don’t pan out. It’s simple and called the Squamus Effect. I can explain.
  6. Looks like the LLC is starting to slowly merge with the MLC.
  7. This event was thankfully a flop. Credit to the NYC office for nailing the lesser winds.
  8. It feels like they drop watches like these so late to play catch up... seems kind of pointless when the event is unfolding and they don't really give a ton of notice.
  9. I am surprised about the lack of excitement coming from the CT folks right now... things look to be lining up for at least a modest show, maybe more: https://weather.cod.edu/satrad/?parms=subregional-New_England-01-24-1-100-1&checked=map&colorbar=undefined
  10. To be fair 95% of the folks on this forum pegged it as a miss so... Don't let them try to fool you.
  11. Do they really have no planes either en route or in the storm right now? So weird.
  12. It does feel like only 1 in every 5 wind storms delivers the goods. Most seem to come in 10-20% under modeling.
  13. They just expanded the 'high' shading area in the latest outlook.
  14. We have been without power in Glastonbury, CT for an hour now. I feel like this storm was so close to being a disaster in CT icewise. It doesn’t look too too bad though.
  15. WOW. Temps were unimpressive when I went to bed and I thought this was going to be a flop. Woke up to 27 degrees and pouring freezing rain. Have to give mad, mad credit to Will for doggedly sticking with his reasoning on the cold air drain. I shouldn’t have doubted.
