The unvaccinated are the only ones to blame with the current status of things in the US. Plenty of opportunity to get vaccinated and the vast majority >95% of hospitalizations/deaths are from those that are not. And than you question the recommendations/actions of the CDC?

Preaching to the Choir here. Get ****ing vaccinated and you don't have to bitch and moan about the CDC modifying their guidelines or States/Local municipalities implementing new restrictions. If you starve the virus of places to grow and mutate, it will largely die off. Will it be eradicated, not in my opinion, but will become much more manageable than it currently is.

Can they? The risk is reduced but it's not 0% chance. If you use that metric, than yes, you could potentially spread the virus to someone and they die.

Because those that are vaxxed are likely more willing to put the mask back on vs those that are not.

There's your casedemic. Low viral load in a vaccinated person can lead to a positive test result because Delta variant also resides more in the nasal cavities.

Not debatable. We're not talking exclusively about masking. We're talking about the social distancing, lockdowns, capacity restrictions, etc... that were put in place. All those coupled together worked.

I get it. You were willing to risk people lives in the here and now and keep the status rather than try to mitigate that. That guidance saved countless lives by mitigating the spread of an unknown commodity. We're still figuring out the virus day-to-day. I have no issue with the CDC updating guidance as the science evolves. Seems kind of ridiculous to have done nothing and let the virus just run it's course.

Who are "you guys"? Pick any State with low vaccination rates and the story is the same right now. Hospitalizations are on the rise again which taxes/stresses the health care system. You dispute the data?

How do you parse the vaccinated from unvaccinated? Personally I'd rather force those unvaccinated to wear them and us vaccinated folks not have to but we apparently can't have nice things in this Country, so the CDC changes guidance that States may follow to re-enact mask mandates.

My belief is it becomes a much more manageable virus that doesn't overwhelm the healthcare system. Still a long way to go for that to occur here in the US and especially around the Globe. The States that are seeing the worst of it are those with lower vaccination rates. Quite a few Hospitals are running at full capacity in those areas. That taxes those employees who have to deal with that.

Latest data say no but we're just now approaching 1 year after it's development, so we don't know how long it will last. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmc2103916 You're the one making a huge deal out of the CDC changing their guidance. Oh no, I have to wear a mask again. If people are really that upset over them, I'll expect 10s of thousands to be marching on their state/local government offices demanding they be repealed.

So the CDC updates their guidance as the science of a new virus evolves/morphs over time. People are blowing this way out of proportion.
