I expect it to be warmer than what Euro is showing.

Really not that bad, if correct. I thought the whole USA would be red with a super nino

3-4 cools off to neutral by next June on CFS. Are you saying el nino will continue into 27-28? Or something like 83-84 with a weak Nina? -

I've come down to the realization this is gonna be a warm winter. Now do we get a major snowstorm like Jan 2016? or get shutout like 97-98? Actually here in Central PA(didn't live here at the time? 97-98 wasn't that bad. -
80's for one day in early October isn't earth shattering..overall a cool pattern starting next weekend.

I think the reason we prefer 1983 is a blizzard in February l...1998 had 0 snow in NYC until March 22nd when 5 inches fell and that was it. So basically in 97-98 it didn't snow at all till the Spring. -

1983 went into a moderate Nina in the fall...1998 it went into a strong nina in the Spring. Both had warmth continuing at 1-2 for a while. -
Very rare occasions will it hit 80 in October and 80 in November is unheard of.
-
Many here last week were promoting mid to upper 80's for Weds and Thursday.
-
I do think we'll see some fall like weather next week with temps in the 60's to near 70 and rain chances as autumn arrives
-
I just look at 72-73,82-83,97-98 and 15-16..those are warm winters..those are the strong ninos of the past 50 years.Doesnt mean it cant snow..but many here will be complaining in December and January with temps in the 50s and rain, like we were those winters.

When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s there were many September days in the 80s especially the first half of the month.Even some days in the 90s..Its still officially Summer.
-
Mid 80's for mid September is not a endless summer. It's 10 degrees above normal. Happens every September. Now low to mid 90's is unusual

I doubt that this December will be +10..thats a once in a lifetime warmth..+3-5 seems more reasonable and in December it can snow especially in New England away from the coast. -

December 1982 was very warm but it did snow in NYC in the middle of the month, which goes to show you when it comes to snowfall it's hard to predict.Of course it's hard to snow when the overall month is warm, but it can. it's December -

No if you like warmer than normal, sure no doubt. Snow however is a totally different topic..look at 1983 and 2016 -
Crisp fall days happen usually in late September, early October. It can get hot in September, it's still Summer. Some days in the 80's and low 90's are typical early in the month

It also snowed a few weeks before Christmas in 1982,,NYC got 3 inches.Christmas day was in the 60's and Denver had a blizzard. Also in December 1997, there was a dusting of snow on December 27th and a few days later inland PA and New York had a snowstorm. The coast nothing but rain. -

Then it's a very tough winter. However inland did better that the coast. NYC had to wait till late March to get snow. -

Problem is the evidence and history..Every Super Nino has lead to warmer than normal temps. But that doesn't mean it can't snow. Just prolonged winter weather is unlikely. I remember 1972,1982,1997 and 2015. Not fun,but we did get blizzards in 83 and 2016.
