    Problem is he has history (strong Nino's) to support his views. You don't have to go out on a limb to forecast above normal temps this winter. Hopefully we are all wrong.

    No doubt its going to be warmer than normal but those temperature departures are ridiculous. Just remember the warmest winter we had was 01-02 and that was neutral enso..Who really knows?

    I wouldn't say all,most of them. Feb 83 and Jan 16 showed you in a strong nino you can get blizzards..also nothing too, like 73 and 98.

    The hottest day of my life.July 15th 1995..was at an outdoor party..temp 102 dewpoint 83. It was so hot I had to go inside,take my face and plant it on the AC for relief..Heatwave killed hundreds in Chicago

    Shocked the Euro is not a blowtorch for most of the country this winter..Maybe because of the strength of the Nino, people are expecting 97-98, 15-16.. Super Nino is always warm. Maybe its seeing other factors..will be interesting to see how this nino performs

    Here's your 4 analogs 72-73,82-83,97-98 and 15-16..all had above normal temps..72-73 and 97-98 was virtually a shutout..82-83 and 15-16 had a historic blizzard. That's a good rundown of what you might expect.

    Most Super Nino's lead to La Nina's the next year..66,73,83,98 and 2016..looks like this one will be no exception.

    Actually inland area's like Harrisburg where I live now,did ok in 97-98..the coast was a disaster

    All I do is look at 72-73,82-83,97-98,15-16 and say yea they were warm..its not hard to figure out..Also 2 if those years had a massive blizzard..So a crazy,insane, earth shattering nino does not mean it cant snow.And we've had snowless winters in La Nina's and neutral winters anyway, so there are other factors.

    May was the month in 1998..it went from moderate nino to modeate nina in a month.

    How do we know that a 5.0 would act differently than a 2.5?.. more flooding in California?..All Super el nino's have done is give warm weather through most of the country for the winter and more rains in the southwest. Somehow that doesn't seem like a big deal, or maybe I'm missing something. This has really been hyped by social media.

    72-73..Southeast did well with snow. What happened in NY Metro was either supression or just not enough cold air when precip arrived. Tons of rainstorms. 97-98 was similar

    Dec 2015 was +13 in many spots. That's historical. Nothing comes close to that.I doubt it would be that warm, but you never know

    Big hit in the Summer of 1966..one of the hottest summers on record..feels that way today!!

    Early July 1966-104,107,104 followed by a 100 on July 10th,and 100 on July 26th. and most other days that Summer were in the 90's
