  1. Simply amazing band. Visibility is maybe a few hundred feet.
  2. Welcome to the life of a snow enthusiast on the coastal plain. For anyone living on the ocean they know this feeling all too well. I have had storms where it snows from Inland all the way to the ocean down in Plymouth and up in Boston but not in marshfield/scituate/cohasset. Its part of the game. You win some, you lose some. Just enjoy the fact its frigid and snowing.
  3. About 3 inches in scituate. Just went out and shoveled. Beautiful flakes 1.5"+ per hour. Deep winter out there. Enjoy everyone.
  4. Now I see how the Northshore has over a foot. Amazing rates.
  5. Been snowing decent since I woke up. Band just rotting over us. 1/2 mile vis 15f. 1/2 inch so far.
  6. My south facing home has experienced significantly melting on dark surfaces.
  7. Can confirm. This band is the heaviest snowfall of the storm. Simply because the snow growth is 10/10
  8. 100% the snow growth yesterday was subpar once afternoon rolled around. This would've been a 30 bomb if the snow growth was decent.
  9. 11 years to the day. Happy anniversary to one of the best streches of winter boston has ever seen. Fingers crossed for a mini 2015 this year.
  10. Impossible to measure with all the drifting here. On the marsh/ocean. Front yard is knee deep. Took the raptor out for a drive to test it out in the snow. Roads are good here. Mostly just plows and cops out. It was a complete whiteout driving sandy beach in cohasset. 5-10 ft of visibility between heavy snowfall and blowing/drifting. Hadn't experienced that since 2015. Loving every second of it. 26f with 1" per hour rates.
  11. I can get away with claiming this movie as a childhood classic I was 11 when it came out.
  12. Life on the south shore is very unpredictable when it comes to snow, most of the time its feast or famine. Looking like we feast. Been here 30 years and ive seen it all. Sometimes you get 4-5 inches in weymouth and ive been left with rain in scituate/cohasset. Its all part of the game. I wouldnt fret. Things look exceptional and you are in a good spot.
  13. The amount of times people have begged for an arctic air mass this strong ahead of an event is numerous. Will be fun to watch the battle on mesomaps.
  14. Latest GFS has you getting 18-19" and 12z HRRR has you at 14" with 10:1 ratios. Its very likely the storm will deliver 12:1 ratios for you overall. Just my guess ofcourse. I am not a MET or expert. 12-24 with high probability is something to celebrate in this day and age. Its been a rough stint.
  15. Because the algorithm used to calculate the kuchera ratio is often too bullish. Its an extremely fluid calculation. While the ratio only takes temperature into account there are numerous other factors which have significant effect on the final ratio. Doesnt account for Humidity aloft, Dendritic growth, compaction and multiple other factors
  16. GFS looks great. Keeps things colder. Interesting coastal front situation. I hope the GFS is right for the new york weenies. They deserve this and im sure they are shitting bricks
  17. I think they will get more than 12 inches. Very very likely.
  18. https://mapwall.met.psu.edu/ewall/nbm/ I am tossing the NAM for now. Unless 00z shows significant changes i think even the south coast performs exceptionally well. Maybe not as well as the weenie in all of us hopes, but lets be honest. The last years have been absolutely brutal. We finally have a decent pattern shaping up.
  19. I think 8-12 in portland and southern maine is going to bust as well.
  20. I have a feeling Framingham-ORH-Wachusett is gonna put down some big numbers. Great day to ski WaWa
