  1. We had a March in the early 2000 ots that had the coldest temps of the season. I lived in the Wolfeboro area at the time, and it was a week of cold. Wish I had the exact dates.
  2. Better roll out the hose for the back up sump pump. Its a price worth paying for a step closer to spring. Yesterday was pictured below. Now I wait at RSW for the cold plunge back into NH.
  3. It's been said before, but I will say it again. Eff.. the cold. With no January thaw this has been brutal. A break every once in a while would be nice. 38 here to day was nice but everything was so frozen solid, Ice dams were like, "meh" , side walk out of work at 5:30 was like "let me take your knee" I have underground freezing on my side...My wife who is "never Florida" finally cracked this weekend. It's in play for a get away. Going to see my parents in Estero this weekend. 60's will feel good.
  4. Goose egg here this morning. 24 for a high. There are power outages in Florida. Fortunately my parents have not lost it but many neighbors have. I asked why and they said power grid is "stressed".
  5. Does this cold pattern bleed into spring and summer? We have had a number of hot summers in the past 10 years. Wondering if the mini split gets a rest this year.
  6. We are only 2 miles away from a 10 degree bump. Elevation here is 300. Its 800 in Mont Vernon.
  7. "Best" so far. -7. Tearing through the wood pile like it was 1999. My parents are freaking out in FL. I am going down there on Thursday. Might have to pack a sweater.
  8. Same here. It does not end. We get a few days here and there of 32 plus. Mid Feb a short break but it looks like another cold shot coming right in after that.
  9. Just filled my tank 2 weeks ago. I have wood and pellet options in my house. Looks like I filled the tank at the right time. Emptying an oil tank is not good. Need to change the filter and have someone bleed the line to the boiler/furnace.
  10. It took a half a run to get my mind and legs in sync. My son is now hooked so I have a ski buddy. He is picking it up fast.
  11. Covid lock downs definitely broke the will of many. It seems like events are cancelled much easier now. We got up to 25 degrees today after a low of -1. I am all set with snow and cold for the year. I did get back into skiing after a 8 year hiatus. Legs feel like rubber today but it was fun. Got to do something to at least make you pretend you like snow and cold.
  12. We got another 1/2" dusting tonight about 30 minutes ago. Brought the dog out and surprise surprise, it was snowing. 12 F
  13. Just does not want to stop. We had 2 inches during daylight. We just doubled in an hour with the fattest flakes of the storm. Taking my son skiing tomorrow. First time for me in a few years. He is just learning. Fingers crossed. edit: Total for the storm pushing 16 with compression. The snow shut off last night.
  14. It started over an hour ago while I was out running around for last pre storm/patriot game items. Definitely early, about 2 hours when compared to NOAA guidance. Not sure what it means, but probably a good sign for 20 plus. I was thinking 16 to 18 here. 5.5 degrees will help as well.
  15. Killington shut down the bear mountain and skypeak side of the resort.
  16. I prefer to keep this type of nonsense in the north for winter recreation, but I will take one on the chin this time for all the winter freaks. Just went out to fill the empty gas can for the snow blower. Its madness. Had to go to three stations to find an acceptable wait. One had not gas. Not sure if it was a technical issue or they were out. All gas handles were covered.
  17. We got a good 1/4" dust up. Winds are going and 13 f heading to something below zero.
