  1. The HRRR didn't have a clue yesterday, regarding today
  2. Sky beginning to turn orange in Simsbury.
  3. Not there yet, had to go get lunch first.
  4. Winds are our of the NW now. The bad news is, winds will be out of the west later on. You do the calculations on how it transpires.
  5. SW CT already well over 200, Bridgeport is sitting at 237. There is a reading in Queens of 324.
  6. Judge uses a remote controlled sex toy.
  7. Same here in Manchester. Sun brighter, but ground conditions rapidly becoming disgusting.
  8. And just like that CT is already going over 200. Visibility has dropped here in Manchester CT, where I'm running errands.
  9. Yikes near NYC. that's going to pivot over the metro. Can see the low is done with moving any further back inland on water vapor loop.
  10. This is very concerning for susceptible members of the community. This swath has expanded, and it's heading directly toward much of Connecticut. For reference, this air quality is over double as poor compared to yesterday when comparing AQI. Yesterday peaked around 200 AQI. These deeper shades are 300-400+ AQI. We are downwind considering the upper level low affecting us.
  11. I'm playing catch up after never having much interest in this stuff before this week. Let's hope this is a first and last for a long time. It would get old quick on the bad days.
  12. I have goosebumps. I live for the once-in-a-lifetime events. This is one.
  13. I'm a little shocked at how high AQI is climbing upstream from us. There is a very strong chance one of these CT sites sees air quality 2x worse than yesterday, if this plume continues to head this way. Visibile satellite appears deceptive so far today. It looks like the clearing is right there, but it only seems to be worsening in terms of surface conditions.
  14. That line between smoke and clear air will not move much further south, according to current forecasts.
  15. That big plume of smoke is intense. Syracuse of measuring over 400 AQI. This is close to double of the worst in CT yesterday. Albany is now up to 232 AQI.
  16. DEMHS IS TRACKING AN AREA OF VERY DENSE SMOKE EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO CONNECTICUT THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO THURSDAY MORNING. 10:15 JUNE 7, 2023 UPDATE As of 10:15 smoke from the Canadian wildfires continues to be present here in Connecticut. Air quality conditions are currently deemed “unhealthy” with AQI values of 150-170PM2.5. We are monitoring an area of very dense smoke positioned throughout Upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania as shown in the satellite imagery to the right. This area of dense smoke is modeled to move into Connecticut over the next few hours with higher smoke density expected than what was observed yesterday. AQI values will likely stay between 150-200PM2.5 however within the highest concentrations of smoke the AQI level could possibly increase to “very unhealthy” with is an AQI value over 200PM2.5 The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has issued an Air Quality Action Day for fine particulates from through midnight tonight. An Air Quality Action Day means that fine particulate concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. The highest concentrations of smoke is expected to stay in Connecticut through the evening and into the early morning hours of Thursday. Lower concentrations of smoke will linger through much of Thursday. DESPP / DEMHS will continue to monitor conditions and provide any updates as warranted.
  17. They increased these numbers again.
  18. Hopefully we can cloud the sun and make it suffocating later this evening for you.
  19. https://gispub.epa.gov/airnow/?contours=ozonepm&monitors=pm25&xmin=-9623192.404576134&xmax=-7275046.895656143&ymin=4586019.5282946825&ymax=5607218.226184366
  20. The visible satellite suggests AQI well above 200 is on the way to NYC metro.
  21. DEEP just upped the forecast for AQI today. Around 150 state wide. It is already at those levels now.
  22. Their forecasts have been so terribly low compared to verification, also.
  23. The forecast is a bit more unknown today I think, but the smoke quality is very poor across Western CT, all sites over 150 AQI. Smoke does increase after a slight improvement in the AM hours. But this seems to be mainly a S and W CT day for the highest AQI. Mid-Atlantic should be smokier than us today I believe, but tough this is these fires spread faster than models can track them. Kingston Ontario is so much worse than us, incredible numbers up to our north.
