Traffic cams show it really coming down on I-64 northwest of Richmond, just past Gum Springs. As you get closer to Richmond, some flakes are starting to show on the cams in places like Short Pump.

This shows some areas of eastern NC going from no snow to a few inches. -
My app jumped from "little to no accumulation" to "3-6 inches" in 2 hours.

Thanks. I have travel plans on Wednesday--flying out west. The bigger issue is that colleagues are flying out of DC on Wednesday as well and that might be a bit iffy. Wondering when we should make a final decision--even if I can get out of here, they may not be able to.

What's the timing on these events in our area?

I'm traveling out to Reno for work next Wednesday, but if this storm verifies in DC on Tues/Wed then my colleagues won't be able to make it out. Gonna be interesting.

The director of the USGS said it's possible the 5.8 was not the main event but the foreshock.

Felt it here in Va Beach..the office builing was evacuated. Pretty interesting. Cell phones still a bit shaky.
