Well, I already laughed at the horror and fear of my neighbors as pea sized hail fell. lol

I assume this is some kinda inside joke question based off of how off-topic this is and how I've seen it mentioned elsewhere. But... I can only be truthful - I don't drink alcohol. Not at all. I tried it when I turned 21 and I quickly decided it wasn't a taste worth acquiring. A tornado is a tornado. They are all dangerous, and potentially costly. We had what was potentially nothing more than a spin-up at my house in the summer of 2016. It knocked a tree over on our car. Last summer we had what I think was called a "derecho" which isn't a tornado, obviously, but was equivalent in damage to a small tornado in a wide area across Tulsa county. It knocked a huge branch on my roof. At first it didn't look like a lot of damage, but it hit a vent over my bathroom and somehow damaged it so badly that we had to pay for a costly repair which included tearing into the wall in my bathroom. D: That stupid storm delayed my move, which was initially supposed to happen last fall or early winter. Otherwise, I know that bad tornadoes the likes of Oklahoma's bad ones can happen in New England. They may historically be rare, but look at the Springfield, MA tornado that happened just 13 years ago. Any storm, any tornado could potentially evolve into that. The climate is very bizarre as of late with climate change. I see longtime Connecticut residents complaining about how weak and mild the winters have been as of late. It reminds me of how I felt back in Oklahoma. The changes there happened pretty quickly. One summer I saw a high of 70F in December and was like "WHAT?!!!!" and less than 10 years later, 70F days were happening like every other week in winter. A 70F day in the winter is now standard Oklahoma winter weather. (which I hated so much. I need winter to be winter.) The weather is crazy. We never know what's going to happen. I take every threat seriously, just like I did back in OK. Also, I may have to correct myself: Were there three reported tornadoes? I was thinking of one near Dublin,NH and then the tornado that started in RI and went up to MA several nights ago. However, I was forgetting the spin-up that happened in Harwinton, CT that happened not long after I got up here. So... THREE? in just TWO WEEKS after moving here? You all can't comfort me much after that, sorry.

You tell me that, but I've only lived here for two weeks and there have already been two reported tornadoes in the region.

Hoping the stormy pattern calms down. I'm loving this cooler weather. It feels like FALL outside this morning with overcast skies and temps in the 60s and I LOVE IT, it makes me happy! But as I always said back in Oklahoma: If getting and staying hot stops the severe storms from forming, then I'd rather it just get and stay hot.

Shockingly pleasant weather again. Can't believe how it feels and it's almost July. I love living in New England!

Dang it, these storms are relentless and keep on coming in waves! Back in OK, typically you have one line and then you're clear. I hope this storm weakens.

Danbury cell has certainly taken an eastward turn (from what I can make out, anyway). Please don't let it become severe or tornadic!

My number one concern coming up here was actually flooding. I would certainly take a hurricane seriously if it was coming up this way. Thankfully those seem pretty rare. Anyway, looks like there are no active Tornado Warnings right now, that's good news! (hopefully that didn't change by the time I posted this) I'm watching that cell West/SW of Danbury, hoping that it doesn't explode and turn more eastward, because then I might be in the track of it. D:

I hope you're right, but seeing a Tornado Warning one week after I got up here and then seeing another Tornado Warning in the state the next day is making me worried for sure. I feel cursed.

Tornado Watch just extended into some portions of Northern Connecticut and Rhode Island? Still not me, but far too close for comfort!

I have much to learn from the language you all use here. I'm just hoping that we'll be safe from this stuff ("damage" as you call it?) down here in central Connecticut. That Tornado Warning yesterday was enough for me for a very long time.

Wow. Well that explains that. People were all like "OMG our cars!!" and I was all like "That's it? Nothing to worry about. That happens all of the time. Never seen much of any damage come out of that!". I mean, I've seen golf ball sized hail. Sounded like boulders hitting the roof.

Well, that's a bit unnerving! A shame I can't look at the radar and tell what's going on myself. You'd think after living in OK and watching soooo many live weather casts during tornadic storms you'd think I'd be able to see a 'couplet' for myself, but when I try to see that stuff outside of when it's pointed to me I'm useless. Point is, if there's any storm nearby, just head for cover, right?

Yeah... I was thinking the same thing about how it smelled in there. Yuck!

Aww! I love guinea pigs! Sadly, not in a place to take one right now. But danggg so some woman had all 51 of those guinea pigs in her apartment?

Thankfully tornado warning expired before going over where I'm living. Still freaked me out! We got small hail. The people around were panicking about it. I assume that means they're not used to hail up here? That hail was small and I was relieved to see that's all we got. lol

I'm from Oklahoma. I'm no stranger to tornado warnings, but I HATE them. They have always scared me to death. Also, I don't know where to find a live weather cast of this tornado warning. Anyone know where I can find that? I'm so new up here, I wasn't prepared for this. =(

Yeah, I'm glad I didn't. Growing up I was always obsessed with the weather. My parents thought for sure I was a budding meteorologist. But I took a meteorology course in early college and just didn't find it to be my thing. It appears that what I am fascinated about with weather is not the deeper in-detail science of it. It's very strange to me that it didn't click. So I enjoy weather from a distance, so-to-speak. Not that I went on to get a more marketable degree, so no such luck.

I'm in southern New England, but not on the coast. I expect some humidity. The evenings when first vI got here were very nice, though. I was surprised by how pleasant the weather can get in the evening here. Like one evening it was in the lower 60s and it was amazing! It hasn't been as nice over the past several evenings, but still better than where I came from.

Hi! I'm brand new to the forums and also brand new to the region of New England. I am a former Southerner, hated the climate among many other aspects, so decided to head up north. Since coming up here, it's ended up just feeling like where I came from. Heat, humidity, severe thunderstorms. I don't know how summer normally is like up here, though, as I'm brand new. Looks like being up here won't make me late summer any less.
