  1. Next weeks heat is even more insane. First 100??
  2. If we hit 90 through Friday is that 11 90+ days for the year? Would still need 9 more to hit 20. Next week looks to hit 90 quite a few days too.
  3. I think Thurs/Friday we have a chance at 95, especially Thursday. Very little wind.
  4. 88 at latest update. Should have no problem getting another 2 degrees in full sunshine.
  5. I was shocked that Buffalo hit 90 20 times in 1955 when we only average 2-3 90 degree days per summer.
  6. Thousands die each year in winter related car accidents. Not to mention more prevalence of circulating bacteria and viruses in winter. Summer is definitely a safer lifestyle. Almost everyone has some sort of AC installed in their home. 84 percent of all homes in the United States have some kind of air conditioning. In fact, the US uses more air conditioning than all other nations combined. Winter months feature quite a bit more deaths then summer months. https://www.acsh.org/news/2019/07/10/more-people-die-winter-summer-14146
  7. It's very difficult to get record warmth here with a SW wind (Impossible). S/SW winds give Rochester their record temps. This wind direction is perfect for KBUF warmth.
  8. Right from the NWS "Looking through our records, the most 90+ degree days that have occurred in Buffalo in a single year was 20. This occurred back in 1955." We have a long way to go.
  9. Quite the contagious virus. This is a good dataset to see how many are asymptomatic. 97% of inmates at Texas jail have tested positive for coronavirus https://www.nydailynews.com/coronavirus/ny-coronavirus-texas-jail-nueces-20200706-bi24or6c5jcazhfu76urumhx2q-story.html
  10. Cases are going to go up as more testing is done. As long as hospitals can maintain the influx of new patients we should be fine. Deaths are still declining and rapidly.
  11. With cases reaching records highs and deaths consistently falling I do wonder if the virus is mutating to a weaker form. The next month will be very telling as absolutely no one social distanced on July 4th. 40k cases and 224 deaths so far today.
  12. For those that don't like the heat, the average temperature starts to decrease July 23rd and the days are already getting shorter.
  13. This will be the longest heat wave in Buffalos history. Already at 4 days of 90+, looks to continue until at least Friday. Hit 94 today. If the long range is correct, it will also be the warmest July on record here. Have been floating in my pool every day after work, absolutely loving it.
  14. Obviously too early to call it. But with the long range right now I think we're a lock for #1.
  15. 94 at latest update! Greater Buffalo International Airport NY Partly Cloudy 94°F
  16. So far this month we are +8.1 INSANE AVERAGE MONTHLY: 78.3 DPTR FM NORMAL: 8.1
