I sort of agree with Jonger. We should not live in fear. Personally I've had 5 friends die in the last 2 years from absolutely random causes under the age of 50. Driving is one of the most dangerous aspects of life. Should we all stay at home and not drive anymore? It's really not needed anymore. We can all work from home, teach from home, order from home. Why don't we all stay home to reduce possible deaths? We could reduce more deaths from reducing the fatality in traffic accidents then we could with Covid. Heart disease: 647,457 Cancer: 599,108 Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936 Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201 Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383 Alzheimer’s disease: 121,404 Diabetes: 83,564 Influenza and pneumonia: 55,672 Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,633 Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173

It's a really tough situation and most people who are in favor of lockdowns have stable jobs as essential employees. For me it's tough I work in financial services and we have been open entire time but my wife has been shut down since mid march and her benefits run out in 2 weeks. We will be okay for a little bit, but really need to get opened up. She works in foreclosure law and Cuomo is not allowing anyone to pursue foreclosures until at least Aug 19th and that likely gets extended well beyond that...200 person law firm is laid off and most make more at work then on UI. Once that $600 goes away in 2 weeks lots of people are screwed.

Go get tested for the antibodies. I got tested for free last week and was negative. It was a 5 second blood test.

New York lowest levels since mid March when the lockdown started. https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-cuomo-covid-numbers-20200711-twmfyaaxh5f4bm3wtyly2atvom-story.html

Mar-May is still extremely hot down in Florida/Texas. I can see the relevance up here as everyone is outside most of the day around where I live and it's easy to social distance. I think the indoor restaurants is the key to transmitting it quickly as well as large at home parties indoors. I've had a few pool parties but everyone stays outside and we stay under 10 people. It will be interesting to see what happens during fall if cases start to rise in the northern states. Covid+Flu is not going to be fun. We just had a really warm fall/winter, I doubt we we have another one that warm.

Anyone know why the south is exploding right now while having low case loads in March-May? Also, we are basically 100% open here besides gyms and movie theaters. Why are New Yorks cases not going up? I think there is some truth to the vast majority of the population being immune to this virus. No one has been social distancing here for the last month. I will say that 80-90% of people wear masks here.

From a PA friend in Los angeles. My buddy in Cali got called in today on his day off due to Covid rising like crazy over there. From a PA in Atlanta "Piedmont Newnan is second on the list and listed as TOTAL diversion. Doesn’t mean we can close our doors, we still treat whatever comes. Don’t come to the ER unless it is an emergency. Expect to be seen in the lobby as there are no beds in house or in the ER. This type of diversion is nothing new, but not something we usually deal with in the middle of the summer. We have been full for weeks now."

My wife is unable to go back to work for awhile as foreclosures are delayed until at least Aug 19th and likely longer. Really hoping they extend the UI benefits even if they slash the $600 in half. -

Quite the contagious virus. This is a good dataset to see how many are asymptomatic. 97% of inmates at Texas jail have tested positive for coronavirus https://www.nydailynews.com/coronavirus/ny-coronavirus-texas-jail-nueces-20200706-bi24or6c5jcazhfu76urumhx2q-story.html -

Cases are going to go up as more testing is done. As long as hospitals can maintain the influx of new patients we should be fine. Deaths are still declining and rapidly. -

With cases reaching records highs and deaths consistently falling I do wonder if the virus is mutating to a weaker form. The next month will be very telling as absolutely no one social distanced on July 4th. 40k cases and 224 deaths so far today. -

When are you moving there? At least you're still in the forum! They have decent totals down there, and good retention at that elevation. -

Except there are some really old AC/Heating systems installed in these large places of business, especially malls. Having talked to a guy who has been doing heating/cooling for decades in my office today, it would be quite the investment...What he is asking is different then installing a new air filter. -

Cuomo wants to run for president soon. He's making this extremely political. First he said it was all about flattening the curve. We've done that already. There are only 226 people in the ICU in the entire state right now. Now he wants to make movie threatres, gyms, sporting venues upgrade there AC units to be able to better filtrate the air inside these places? He just placed the entire state on lockdown for nearly 4 months. Does he honestly think these places have the money to do this? After a successful vaccine is found it takes upwards of 6 months to even get enough doses to give to everyone in the country to have any type of success. Does that mean we are another full year away from fully opening without restrictions? -

Seroconversion of a city: Longitudinal monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in New York City By conducting a retrospective, cross-sectional analysis of SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in a sentinel group (enriched for SARS-CoV-2 infections) and a screening group (representative of the general population) using >5,000 plasma samples from patients at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City (NYC), we identified seropositive samples as early as in the week ending February 23, 2020. A stark increase in seropositivity in the sentinel group started the week ending March 22 and in the screening group in the week ending March 29. By the week ending April 19, the seroprevalence in the screening group reached 19.3%, which is well below the estimated 67% needed to achieve community immunity to SARS-CoV-2. These data potentially suggest an earlier than previously documented introduction of SARS-CoV-2 into the NYC metropolitan area. -

I got an antibody test today as I was around someone for a few days that got the virus back in March. It was free and I was curious. It's a 5 second blood tests at Quest. -

Looks like the hub cities for NHL are Edmonton for the western conference and Toronto for the eastern conference.
