  1. I work in finance. The standard rate of inflation is 3% throughout history. The term is subjective. There are no prepayment penalties. You can pay on your loan towards principal at anytime. I can pay down 50k on my mortgage tomorrow if I wanted to. But does that make sense? The standard rate of return on the S&P index throughout its history is 8%. What is better a 2.75% return or an 8% return with compounding? I'm investing the maximum amount allowed towards my retirement accounts for the first time ever this year. Most people have the thinking that you do, why go for a longer term if you can do a 15 year term. A interest rate that is lower then the standard rate of inflation is called negligible debt. Everyone should be following this method.
  2. I met with the chemo doctor a few weeks ago and he knew nothing about what my moms treatment was last year. It was as if he looked at an MRI a minute before walking into the office. He actually asked her what chemo treatment she had last year, like my mom is going to remember that... Not to mention them saying in August of 2019 that there is less than a 2% chance of the cancer coming back. Here we are in June 2020 and now the cancer is back worse then ever and never going away. It's stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer. They developed a new treatment plan a few weeks ago. She received chemo a few weeks and today was a scheduled follow up, now 3 days ago a random extra chemo session was added to her schedule and portal online today. There is no communication or unity between the departments.
  3. Has anyone else here had any bad experiences with Roswell? My moms cancer is back and I think they're doing a terrible job with her. Any other places to go around the area?
  4. Everyone go refinance your mortgage. Just got 30 years at 2.75%.
  5. Yeah, they can have snow all 12 months. They have some of the craziest weather on the entire planet.
  6. I don't know how you move so much wolf, it's so much work to move. But I knew you wouldn't move to somewhere that averages less then 75" a year. You love snow more than anyone on here, no way that is ever happening. Your girl may want to, but it aint happening.
  7. Looks like there is a hike to hit up all of them. Look at that elevation change. That is not an easy hike. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/presidential-traverse-trail
  8. After the 46 dacks I want to do the presidential ones in New Hampshire and then a few in Maine. Would love to do the 14 in Colorado, but tough to get out there enough. It's nice being within driving distance of some awesome mountains. Can make a weekend trip out of it, instead of a week trip. Here are the president peaks MountainElevation Mount Adams 5,774' Mount Clay 5,533' Mount Eisenhower 4,780' Mount Franklin 5,003' Mount Jackson 4,052' Mount Jefferson 5,712' Mount Madison 5,367' Mount Monroe 5,384' Mount Pierce 4,310' Mount Quincy Adams 5,774' Mount Sam Adams 5,774' Mount Washington 6,288' Mount Webster 3,911'
  9. I wish I lived as close as you guys do. Its a 6 hour drive for me. It's the most beautiful place east of the rockies IMO.
  10. The end of next week looks a bit chilly. (Wed-Fri) It's actually going to be really close if we break the record. Also didn't realize we got 89'd twice on the 18th and 19th.
  11. Looks like quite a bit. I don't keep track of rainfall, but lots of puddles in the neighborhood.
  12. I wish I did Skylight and Gray Peak when I did Marcy a few years back. I have to go back to finish those 2. This is a map I got off ETSY. I put a poster board behind it and framed it. Everytime I do a peak I put a pin at the top of the mountain. Helps me keep track of all the ones I've done and left to do. And looks awesome in my office.
  13. Yeah as someone who travels a lot its very tough to see these deals and not go somewhere. But my work is being really strict in traveling so I think I may stick exploring every piece of New York the next few months until the states get taken off the mandatory 2 week quarantine list.
  14. There are price wars going on right now in the airline industry to help people get back traveling again. Jet blue is doing buy one flight get one free and southwest is doing insanely cheap flights all over the US right now as low as $34.
  15. India is about to have a really bad time with this virus. 44k new cases in last 24 hours. 39k new the day before. Over 1100 deaths today and a 3rd world country.

  17. It would be the warmest of all time. Warmest August on record is 75.6 2016
  18. As of today: AVERAGE MONTHLY: 78.2 DPTR FM NORMAL: 7.4 Still 2 degrees above normal for the month. With the forecasted temps, it looks like we should set the record for warmest July on record.
  19. That's awesome! I definitely want to do a few of the ones in Colorado as well.
  20. Yeah it was actually cold up there in mid july with mid 80s at base elevation. I had to put my hoodie on! The town of lake placid is beautiful. I enjoy it in the winter more than the summer, but in the fall it is truly special! Here is a list of the 46 high peaks along with their elevations and how long it takes to hike them. Highest is Marcy at 5344'. https://www.adirondack.net/hiking/high-peaks/
  21. Also it was cold up there mid July. I had to put a hoodie on.
  22. Since Cuomo isn't allowing us to travel anywhere anymore due to covid. Decided it would be a good time to hit up all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks. Here is Whiteface mountain. Right around 4900 feet. These hikes are no joke.
  23. Just got back from another trip to the Adirondacks. We hiked up Whiteface and Esther. Whiteface drive up was closed due to construction and covid, so we had the entire peak to ourselves. A very rare occurrence! On the goal to hit up all 46 peaks!
  24. He is in San Diego. The testing in California is backed up for 10-14 days. He is a medical scientist for a large pharma company there.
