Hospitalizations are back to where they were during the worst part of the pandemic. I expect quite a few weeks of days with 1k+ deaths for August. These numbers will likely skyrocket as we get into fall/winter and schools start. https://covidtracking.com/data/charts/us-currently-hospitalized -

I met with the chemo doctor a few weeks ago and he knew nothing about what my moms treatment was last year. It was as if he looked at an MRI a minute before walking into the office. He actually asked her what chemo treatment she had last year, like my mom is going to remember that... Not to mention them saying in August of 2019 that there is less than a 2% chance of the cancer coming back. Here we are in June 2020 and now the cancer is back worse then ever and never going away. It's stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer. They developed a new treatment plan a few weeks ago. She received chemo a few weeks and today was a scheduled follow up, now 3 days ago a random extra chemo session was added to her schedule and portal online today. There is no communication or unity between the departments. -

Has anyone else here had any bad experiences with Roswell? My moms cancer is back and I think they're doing a terrible job with her. Any other places to go around the area? -
Yeah as someone who travels a lot its very tough to see these deals and not go somewhere. But my work is being really strict in traveling so I think I may stick exploring every piece of New York the next few months until the states get taken off the mandatory 2 week quarantine list.

There are price wars going on right now in the airline industry to help people get back traveling again. Jet blue is doing buy one flight get one free and southwest is doing insanely cheap flights all over the US right now as low as $34.

India is about to have a really bad time with this virus. 44k new cases in last 24 hours. 39k new the day before. Over 1100 deaths today and a 3rd world country.

Yeah it was actually cold up there in mid july with mid 80s at base elevation. I had to put my hoodie on! The town of lake placid is beautiful. I enjoy it in the winter more than the summer, but in the fall it is truly special! Here is a list of the 46 high peaks along with their elevations and how long it takes to hike them. Highest is Marcy at 5344'. https://www.adirondack.net/hiking/high-peaks/ -

Since Cuomo isn't allowing us to travel anywhere anymore due to covid. Decided it would be a good time to hit up all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks. Here is Whiteface mountain. Right around 4900 feet. These hikes are no joke. -

My buddies symptoms went away for a day and now they're back and worst then ever. 7 days with no covid test results. -
My buddy took his test on the 7th with no results yet. Just texted him and results are taking up to 2 weeks. He started showing symptoms after going to a July 4th party. Lives in San Diego.

Cool website to keep track of all the vaccines and their stages. The 2 more promising. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/science/coronavirus-vaccine-tracker.html A vaccine in development by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford is based on a chimpanzee adenovirus called ChAdOx1. The vaccine is in a Phase II/III trial in England and Phase III trials in Brazil and South Africa. The project may deliver emergency vaccines by October. In June, AstraZeneca said their total manufacturing capacity stands at two billion doses. Moderna was the first American company to put a vaccine into human trials. The vaccine uses messenger RNA (mRNA for short) to produce viral proteins. Moderna published promising Phase I results on July 14. Phase III trials are set to begin July 27, and the company hopes to have vaccine doses ready by early 2021. -

Yeah. I've just lost all faith in the medical field after being in and out of hospitals the last year with my moms cancer. The one I go to is ranked 14th in the country. They are not as good as I thought they were.

Yes, but this strategy is completely contingent on a successful vaccine being developed in the very near future. One of which has never been created for after decades of research with various coronaviruses. The end result is virtually inevitable, just delaying it with shutdowns. Sweden realized this and went that route. The goal is obviously mitigation, containment, and treatment to help our hospitals not get overrun. We should only be shutting down if there is fear that our hospitals ICUs get full.
-
California shutting down again.
-
Or those other countries just delayed the inevitable. See Texas, Arizona, Florida, etc..

A good case study is Sweden. They remained completely open this entire time and although they have more deaths then most of the EU per capita they are decreasing in cases. https://www.usnews.com/news/world/articles/2020-07-07/swedens-daily-tally-of-new-covid-19-cases-falls-to-lowest-since-may Health Agency data showed 14 new COVID-19 deaths were recorded on Tuesday, bringing the total to 5,447, more than half of which have occurred at nursing homes and among the elderly receiving home care services.
