  1. That's a beautiful place! Yeah, that commute would be brutal for me. I hate long drives to work. I try to keep it under 20 minutes. Wasting 1-2 hours a day driving is rough.
  2. We had snow nearly everyday up in Oregon/Washington. The elevation there in the mountains really helps. Coldest it got was 11 degrees at the base of the mountain we climbed. That picture I posted was at 10,300 feet. One of the hardest hikes I've ever done. The hike is called south sister, the 3rd tallest in Oregon behind Hood/Jefferson. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/oregon/south-sister-trail
  3. Some really good news. It's in late stage human trials and really good responses so far. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/astrazenecas-covid-19-vaccine-trials-offer-hope-for-older-adults-11603718356

  5. Yeah I would take a cold/snow Dec/Jan all day. If we get below average temps for those 2 months we're basically guaranteed a good winter. I think the first 2 weeks of Nov are pretty warm and we slowly transition the second half to about average/slightly below.
  6. Yeah, I just don't see it. Adirondacks get a foot+ though. Going up there twice this winter for hikes.
  7. I highly doubt we get a cold/snowy Feb/Mar in a Moderate Nina. More likely cold/snow Dec/Jan and a quick transition into spring.
  8. Well last year sucked, very few events. November also looks like a major torch for the entire US.
  9. Anyone know where to get individual GEFS runs? EWALL site isn't working for me.
  10. O’Hare is busier then I’ve ever seen it. Covid cancel.
  11. lake effect rain band off erie over my area tonight
  12. I cannot believe Cuomo released a book on how to deal with a pandemic....He's profiting from death and misery. Dude is a total joke and that is someone that leans pretty far left.
  13. I saw that the other day. There is a reason all long term winter outlooks show all red and orange. It's not because they have a warm bias, its because of global warming. The entire planet on average is warming at an accelerating rate.
  14. They finally realize herd immunity is the only solution after all these vaccines taking steps back. Going to be another 1-2 years before a successful vaccine gets through to us and by that time it won't matter.
  15. Usually Ninas have a more active northern jet. It's been a long time since we've had a nice clipper pattern.
  16. Cases are going up in every state and its only Oct 15th. Going to be a long winter.
  17. NOAA winter outlook is out, looks good for the lakes area. https://www.noaa.gov/media-release/us-winter-outlook-cooler-north-warmer-south-with-ongoing-la-nina?fbclid=IwAR1CoWldQvKKAcDeoh5h1pgPNbmlDc1QB5xawS90hnjNB22yjIpl1mbO_4c
