  1. I booked my appt at Quest, took 5 minutes for the blood tests and had results within 48 hours. Was completely free. I got mine in summer.
  2. Both Dec 2001 and Nov 2014 melted within a week after. I would take those 2 events over anything else I've experienced here in winter. I just want enough snow to cross country ski/hike in. Other than that I do not care how much is on the ground. Rather I care about big LES events with high snowfall rates.
  3. That is definitely not me. I have never been a snowpack guy. I know most on this forum are though.
  4. To each their own. I could care less about snowpack. I want lots of snowfalls and big LES events. That is how I grade a good winter. Looking outside at snow doesn't do it for me. I could go to the Dacks or Holiday Valley each winter and always see snowpack. My favorite thing in winter is extremely high snowfall rates in those LES bands. Synoptic also doesn't do it for me.
  5. I also had a extra week of paid vacation due to travel bans the entire week. Can't beat that!
  6. Yep but that was the best week of weather I'll ever experience. I don't care about snow on the ground, only falling and especially heavy rates.
  7. This is also true. How many people here have taken the Covid test? I took the antibody test a few months back, but never the Covid test. I would only take the test if I had symptoms, is there any reason to take the test without? I guess there would be if you're asymptomatic, but wouldn't you have to take the test many, many times and guess right if no symptoms? What would be the point in that?
  8. Just remember it can flip very quickly. A few days before Nov 2014 hit it was high 60s and sunny.
  9. Long range looks quite warm first 10 days or so of Nov.
  10. It's only late Oct, average highs are still in the 50s. In a few weeks we will start to see the real flakes fly.
  11. I kind of agree with the testing. We're the most powerful nation in the country. We should have been able to test the entire country several times over in the course of 7-8 months. We would have been able to quarantine those with it for 2 weeks and get on with our lives. If it didn't completely weed out the virus the infection rate nationwide would have been minimal in affecting day to day activities. Instead we're pushing 100k new cases per day and rising.
  12. So we really using the NAM, ICON, PARA this year? We know the combo of Euro, GFS, Ukie is always the best way to go.
  13. I think there is one on whiteface, but they don't track total snowfall.
  14. Yeah that makes sense and obviously the places I posted are not livable. I do wonder what the total snowfall accumulations are up in those areas? Has to be at least 200-300" per year. There is no real way to keep track in the Dacks, I think Mansfield does though?
  15. Snow capital is 4-5000 feet in the Adirondacks. I've never seen so much snow and I went in a down year. Mansfield has to be up there too.
  16. Final call. First flakes for lower elevations, 1-3" for places above 1500 feet.
  17. A Feb 2007 repeat here while the lake is open would have been historic as well. Would have been similar to Nov 2014.
  18. That's a beautiful place! Yeah, that commute would be brutal for me. I hate long drives to work. I try to keep it under 20 minutes. Wasting 1-2 hours a day driving is rough.
  19. We had snow nearly everyday up in Oregon/Washington. The elevation there in the mountains really helps. Coldest it got was 11 degrees at the base of the mountain we climbed. That picture I posted was at 10,300 feet. One of the hardest hikes I've ever done. The hike is called south sister, the 3rd tallest in Oregon behind Hood/Jefferson. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/oregon/south-sister-trail
  20. Some really good news. It's in late stage human trials and really good responses so far. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/astrazenecas-covid-19-vaccine-trials-offer-hope-for-older-adults-11603718356
