  1. Zion national park was pretty busy, but we got a 6 am shuttle and did angels landing and the narrows before it got really busy. Angels landing was scariest hike I've ever done.
  2. I just visited 7 national parks in May in Utah/Arizona and there were no restrictions, had an incredible time. Also I don't go to touristy areas, I go hiking in the middle of the mountains and start at 4 am before everyone wakes up. Do I bring a gun or bear spray out into the wilderness of Montana? I saw a big black bear in Washington, but I know there are grizzly's up in Montana.
  3. Booked a trip out west for next month for 10 days going to Tetons, Yellowstone and Glacier national park. Thinking 2-3 days in each park. Rental car for 10 days was $1050 and flights for 2 people were around $975. I did the same thing in Utah/Arizona for $750 for flights and $600 for rental car in May so prices definitely going up for summer. It might be because you can only really visit glacier NP in summer, once September hits snow starts to fall up there. Glacier has been on my list for awhile
  4. No idea but you're on extremely high res mode, could literally be picking up anything. Birds/dust
  5. I was looking into turo but never used them before so was hesitant to use. How does the insurance work if something happens?
  6. Looks like the heat is here to stay. So my Alaska trip looks to be a dud as a rental car for 10 days is $3600. Think I'm going out west again Montana/Idaho/Wyoming for a 12 day road trip to Glacier national park, tetons, and yellowstone.
  7. BUF at 89/71 Index of 95. SYR at 92/71 Index of 99 ROC at 91/67 Index of 94
  8. So easy to get a SW flow in summer. About 90% of summer is SW flow. In winter like .0005%
  9. enhanced tomorrow in eastern ny https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day2otlk.html
  10. Hey guys remember this thread? Still on front page, someone delete that thing.
  11. Australia locking down for another 2 weeks due to the delta variant. Is that country really going for zero cases? Going to isolate itself forever?
  12. Looks like June is going to finish a little over +4 for BUF. Climate change is definitely impacting here as well, just at a slower pace than out west.
  13. That month was more about consistent cold, I know we broke records but Buffalo all time coldest temp is -23 I believe? So beating a record by 10 degrees would put us at -33.
  14. I wonder what the inverse of something like that heat wave would be around here in winter. -30 to -50 across the entire area?
  15. Canada set its record high temp again today at 118. Florida has never recorded 110 degrees…
  16. 353 pm | The Portland Airport has officially reached 115°F. Before setting the all-time record yesterday (112°F), and the day before that (108°F on Saturday), the previous all-time record high temperature was 107°F set on Aug 8th & 10th 1981 & July 30th 1965. #pdxtst #orwx #wawx https://t.co/CBNhD7lJb8 — NWS Portland (@NWSPortland) June 28, 2021
  17. This is the most impressive stat, this is equivalent to Buffalo hitting 109 as the highest its ever hit is 99. Insane Quillayute,WA right on the coast is currently at 109F, a whopping 10F degrees above its all time highest temperature of 99F set on 9 August 1981. It's the 2nd hugest difference between an old and a new all time high (for long POR stations) anywhere in the world since 1983
