How's the convection looking? Nothing wrong with an old fashioned sleet bomb.

at some point the cold is just going to overwhelm the soundings and the edgy models that are IP/cat pawing may bust ... it's like venturing too close to the 'thermal event horizon' and the phase change physics pulls you down.
So cold begets cold, and the storm makes it's own cold. Got it!

Sleet sucks. Give me plain rain or snow
Huh? Sleet is a great pack builder and road disasterer. This time of year, kind of useless except for a day off.

Thanks. Yeah I was hoping the airport had a big paved area, but it looks like grass. Will have 2 dogs with us, so kind of want an area not right down town.
I'm wondering if random people and parking lots will have like "eclipse parking $10", just get up there early and grill and chill until the event

I guess I just want to make sure I experience totality. That was my first thought but then I started looking closely and noticed how close I was.
Think Island Pond/Brighton will be busy? Staying at the camp which is a 2 hour drive to there, but I don't want to deal with 93 and the notch, then a slog up to Colebrook. I have a feeling that's where everyone in MA is heading.

Should be easier to clear up here.
Are we done for now? White rain adding up to a sloppy inch on grass?

But what about the messenger shuffle? We're still pretty far out TBH.

Pretty disturbing that Brattleboro doesn’t average much more snow vs BOS.
Way better retention tho

I could see your area cleaning up, I remember the 97 storm I didn't snow blow, I let the April sun melt it and just plowed through it with my 4 wheel drive truck for two days.
Correctamundo. That is exactly my plan. Already took the plow off the yard donkey and she ain't going back on.
But hopefully tree and utility line damage far and wide for all to enjoy and remember, with no risk of dangerous cold after the storm.

Since I live in the Plymouth NH area I know the backroads pretty well. Take 93 up to Plymouth. Get off and go west on Rt 25. Head up on the NH side of the Connecticut River. Then take one of the bridges over to Rt 5 or Rt 91 into the St Johnsbury area. Then decide how far north or west you want to go to get into a longer and darker eclipse. This will be a darker eclipse vs 2017 as the path of totality is wider. Unfortunately for travelers the center line is near Canada. On the edge of totality is interesting however as the Diamond Ring and Bailey's Beads last much longer. As I say over and over. A 99% partial and a 100% total is like the difference between kissing someone and marrying them. Oh, another idea. There are lots of small businesses in the path of totality. Pick where you want to go and call one of them in advance. Ask if you can park in their lot and tell them you are even willing to throw them a few bucks their way. Or bring them a small gift, like a couple of 6 packs of beer. With that in mind they might let you use their bathrooms as potty break as bathrooms and gas are going to be hard to find. This is all weather dependant of course.
That's the route I'm going for sure

I know it’s been a historically warm winter but it didn’t start that way in November and has ended that way in March/early April…so ya I’m running out of firewood, burned a ton of it this year
Well, after this storm you'll have plenty of blowdowns around town to cut split stack

We’re going to N New Hampshire but I’m already partially resigned to there being cloud cover.
Supposedly it's still pretty neat with cloud cover, like all of a sudden it gets pitch black like night. I'll be up in NNH too, but I'm not sure where to go.

Line was kind of a bust here. Couple gusts and flurries.
Headed up to Swift Diamond Riders on Friday morning, looks like it'll be great riding up there.

Fascinating that we haven't been able to evolve the EV battery more rapidly in a hundred years hey?
https://rarehistoricalphotos.com/electric-cars-history-pictures-1880-1920/
It's more the charging times and cold weather performance. Could be a lot further along if the FF industry didn't try and kill everything over the years.

I've been reading about issues with it and a lot of complaints from people who bought one.
Well it's the first one, only will get better over time. Need some breakthroughs in battery tech to really take off.

Nice! 4th Gen's still holding strong. That pic the other day was of one I saw in Germany (wasn't actually mine), looked like it hadn't moved in years. Below is my actual truck.
But on the weather map, looks like some good showers about to move through. Glad the hike up Little Wachusett was earlier. Not much of a view, but no one else around, which is the goal.
