Biggest issue is moisture transport it's been a dry pattern for three months. Copious moisture has had us luck into snow in many a recent above normal temperature winters.

Growing signal the blocking is legit and a seasonable to below normal temperature Holiday period is coming. The missing ingredient is southern jet moisture. * Not asking for much can a man get a 2" clipper or over running event the low sun angle will keep it around for a week

Going back to 1995 all Christmas days with a high of freezing or below went on to be good winters. Different story the previous 25 years, almost a pattern there.

Feels too rushed a reversal from the Pacific dominated pattern to get significant snow. If the blocking is real I would guess closer to New Years.

So January's +1 in 67 killed it on closer examination.

Parents moved into their new house in the north Philly burbs in 66 and my mom use to talk about that first bad winter. I was recently looking at the snow events that winter for Allentown from November through March and my thoughts were it was very much like 95-96, but worse because it was a much colder winter. Not born yet I really missed a good one, no doubt winter of yore material and much deserved.

I cut branches off a pine in the woods several years ago and bam I had a Christmas tree.
