  1. Allentown only rose above freezing once the last 11 days of January last year when it hit 38F
  2. After the second rain storm next week the pattern SHOULD shift into something more normal and less cloudy as the Pacific firehose pineapple express finally stops injecting copious amounts of moisture into the atmosphere.
  3. Cloud deck from California to Nova Scotia and beyond https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/conus_band.php?sat=G16&band=GEOCOLOR&length=24
  4. Hard to believe NYC currently is reporting it's warmest January to date. The clouds and cold rains have made the real feel deceivingly chilly.
  5. Ripping torrential the water has nowhere left to go southeast PA is going to be a lake next week
  6. Historic dreary winter it is. Just had two and a half sunny days and somewhat mild temperatures and it's not even registering on the feel good meter after being back in the soup today.
  7. So 3 cold rainstorms over the next week then dry and cold the following week.

  11. Yeah the 18z GFS rolls out the medieval torture equipment offering the iron bull or the rack
  12. Comical that every index there is has swung favorable for at least scoring average snowfall the next two weeks in the 48hrs since my punt, like it waited and then it was go time.
  13. Winter playoffs have started The GFS team has cutter #17 with a perfect record in seasonal trend The ECM team with the classic delmarva low with snow
  14. Two sunny days back to back and another ECM snow run crazy stuff going on
  15. Bingo bango Euro snows us 1/23 and setting up a biggie late month
  16. * Punt away* There were some positive glimmers earlier in the week but it's turned into January is toast. Little reason to see why February offers redemption other then finally scoring some 2-4" advisory event that results in two billion tons of road salt. Maybe possibly we luck out on some 2006/2016 thing but who's counting on that. One slight hope that remains is that February torch MJO 3 progression doesn't mean much the MJO forecasts have been as bad as everything else. Now March might rock, there's some evidence for this but that's spring damn it.
