I agree. But to some extent the same could be said about Guilford. In this setup the north and northwest part of the county (Oak Ridge, Stokesdale, Summerfield, Colfax, KGSO, Browns Summit) could approach WSW criteria where the south and southeast part (Julian, Climax, Pleasant Garden, High Point, Forest Oaks) may just be at low end advisory. Of course the city of Greensboro itself will have different conditions south to north.
RAH doesn’t seem to apply the same “large county” rule to Guilford. Like you said, for this current icing event, it’s likely that the conditions will be night and day different between Pleasant Garden and Oak Ridge, but they just stick to an advisory. I‘ll give them the benefit of the doubt, but it’s probable that northern Guilford will reach warning criteria.

This might be a good time to remind all Duke Energy customers...
Report your outage by texting OUT to 57801 or calling 800-769-3766.

Do you think temps will rise once heavier precip moves in? That's what the hourly forecast is showing.
We should have 0.50” of QPF by the time we get above freezing late tomorrow morning.

Current temp/dp here of 29.8/29.8 which is one degree below hourly forecast.

Agreed ! is there an app or web page that has a really good radar mosaic ? weather.gov used to be great but i really miss the old style before the upgrade of the site last year..
The NWS radar website “upgrade” was disappointing. They took a functional tool and turned it into something barely useable.

Precip is slower to arrive overnight and in the early morning. This might limit accumulations in areas.
For Triad, most accumulations will occur between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM according to latest HRRR.
-
There will be plenty of QPF for the Triad. The bulk of it won’t arrive until around 3:00 AM.

Made it back from Cincy today. Left about 5" of compact snow behind me with another 7-10" coming early next week for a freaking ice storm? This winter in the SE blows. I'm buying grass seed asap. Time for spring.
Good to hear you returned safely. Also glad you didn’t wait until tomorrow.

A Winter Weather Advisory for Rain.
RAH has this hang up about not leaving Wake County out no matter what if other counties are likely to get some winter weather.

20z HRRR from 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM

RAH extends my winter weather advisory until noon on Sunday. That’s as about as concerned as they’ll get.
My temp/dp are now 29.8/29.8. Forecast was a bust.

I’m about to tune into the local news to hear a certain
weathermanweatherperson say, “Hey, guys. Listen up. It’s cold and it might get colder. But you know what, guys? It’s okay. If you’re inside with that certain loved one all bundled up and warm, you’ll be fine. Valentine’s Day is coming up, guys. And that’ll warm your heart even when it’s cold outside. But anyway, guys. Like I said, it’s cold. And we could see some more ice. So stay warm, guys.”(I’m not exaggerating.)
I am eager to hear what Van says later though. Seems like Tim is on board with the possibility of more than just a superficial icing event for the Triad.

I’m down to 30.0/30.0 now.

And there it goes. We are under a Winter Storm Warning now
I’m less than a mile from the Rockingham County line. I don’t know when or if RAH will start honking about this.

Rhut rhow....I’m three degrees below RAH’s hourly forecast.

The extended 18z HRRR is about to start rolling. [drumroll]

Some tv mets seem to be walking back their “no or little ice accumulation expected” forecasts. No accumulation has become glaze possible. Glaze possible has become up to 0.10”. Up to 0.10” has become up to 0.20”.

My temp keeps dropping contrary to RAH’s forecast. Down to 30.2/30.2 here.

I still don’t get how one county that’s forecasted to get a 33 degree cold rain and another county that’s forecasted to get a third of an inch of ice are under the same advisory.
