  1. Thanks for this post, and link to the WAPO article--guess I haven't been imagining this, then! The tiled radar layer is just painful to watch load. The radar.weather.gov server may not be the issue since it loads the ArcGIS base maps fairly quickly. But the radar layer is served up by the open data server at NOAA--so this is probably the bottleneck. Regardless, the deprecation of Flash has been pretty obvious for years. There was more than enough time to budget for and develop a suitable replacement.
  2. Driveway was plowed at 10pm...looks like we had quite a bit of additional snow and drifting overnight. Good news is that main road is now down to pavement. 3' drifts along the 4' chain link fence. Wish I could get a photo of the fence drifts, but it's in the neighbors yard and it would be a bit creepy to do that.
  3. I’m at the border of northern and southern Worcester county, and it must have pounded snow here overnight. At 10pm my front walk was shoveled, and the path isn’t there at all now. Really hard to measure with the drifting—but the 5’ tall snowdrift along my stockade fence usually only happens if there’s close to 20”. The screens on the eastern and southern side windows are pasted with snow. I live on a generally well maintained, major artery—while it’s plowed it still has a pretty heavy snowpack. Great nor’easter for central MA—sorry so many busted out. (Former lurker at Weather Underground...great to find an active local wx board!)
