My station says we got up to 3.7°.  Must have been when the sun made it around to that side of the house.  Down to -1.6° now

Got home at 4 and my thermometer is saying -5, not sure what the exact high or low was here. Just glad to get some winter temperatures.

Lol.  I was just kidding about the UHI. It would actually be a granite jungle more than a concrete one with all the grout piles.

Lol no I know you were, funny stuff. I don't know if the contract is still in place or not, but when I worked for the National Cemetery Administration all our granite headstones came from Barre, pretty amazing volume wise for such a small town.

A cool 0.0° here. Must be the UHI effect of Lower Graniteville.

Haha yea that's the concrete jungle over there, but in actuality it's just a blip on the map to 99% of New England. It was -8 at 7 when I went outside, not sure if that was the low or not but somewhere around there.

My short (23 years) record shows 17.6° for 12/20 and 24.1° for the 24th.  Takes until the 30th before the average drops below the 20th average.  Even with my 15-day smoothing there's a pre-Christmas bump.  With the short POR, days like last Christmas (54/43 and 29° AN) and 12/29/17 (-1/-31 and 35° BN) have huge impact.

Interesting, thank you for that information!

It is snowing pretty good right now, up to 1/2" I would guess. 26° at 4pm and a little windy.

  5. I don't know if any of you guys follow the weather ("eye on the sky") out of the Fairbanks Museum in Saint Johnsbury, but they give little notes about weather every day. I found this one interesting this morning, as this seems to be a hot topic around Christmas:

Pre-Christmas thaws are not uncommon, as average temperatures on the Fairbanks Museum weather records, extending back 125 years, climb about 2 degrees from the 22nd to the 26th.
