    Unless there are massive shifts at this point, I think we’re at the point where we have to give the GFS its flowers for this one. Even if the ground truth ends up not being impressive for some or all of us, it’s clear the GFS had the right synoptic idea for this storm waaaaaaaay ahead of other models - and it’s also been super consistent. As much as we shit on it, this is a reminder that it’s a global weather model that should be paid attention to.

    You’re making the right choice. Smart call. We’ve all seen wayyyy more situations with this level of uncertainty fail or underwhelm. That said…if the Euro comes in with 2 feet while you’re 30k feet up over Eastern Tennessee today, we’ll all be expecting you back tonight, lol

    I fully expect this middle ground most models seem to be trending to will be similar to the ultimate outcome here, but that doesn't mean I'm not having a blast watching the GFS do its thang. Even if it caves at 0Z, this has been hella fun, lol.

    I mean...my head KNOWS this is nonsense. But my heart...my heart sees snow maps like this 2.5 days before the event and goes pitter patter. No matter how much I tell myself this can't happen, and how much I KNOW IT WON'T, it's still gonna hurt like hell when the GFS folds like a tissue paper shar pei at an origami convention

    I hate that fucking model so much. The only times it shows snow for us are the times when it's alone and it inevitably misses. But somehow its solo escapades are always right on the money when it's in Dr. No Mode. Sigh.
