Winds are gusting pretty strong here right now probably ~40 mph or so. Not really expecting any power issues around here considering my neighborhood made it through fine with 55 mph gusts in the last couple wind events
-
I’m leaving for school on Monday but it’s nice to know I was the catalyst for this snow drought

Bout to get smacked by that squall line… winds are absolutely roaring rn
Still roaring outside but from the intensity of the rainfall rather than the wind, wind has died down some

Highest gust on my station is 35 mph, of course in reality I’m getting gusts well into the 50s I would assume
-
Gusting to around 40 still, really starting to hear the roar of the LLJ now though
-
Gusts around 35 right now, nothing even to wind advisory level yet. Last event had gusts in the 55-60 range at peak so I’m interested to see where this one ends up
-
Wind isn’t particularly strong here yet, still in the 35-40 mph range in gusts. Rainfall is at 0.58”
-
High Wind Warning itself doesn’t even go into effect until 6:00 so we have a ways to go on the coast. I’ve probably have already gotten what i’d estimate were about 40 mph gusts here. Nothing too crazy though.
-
Gusting around 30-35 mph here in Lindenhurst. The fact that Jones Beach is already hitting High Wind Warning criteria (40 mph sustained) is kinda concerning

Jesus. Flashbacks. Jan 22 blizzard was awesome in WB
didn’t we get like 8” couple weeks prior also?
I came home from college to see that blizzard lol, perfect timing with it coming in Friday night. And yeah I remember getting that 6-8” storm at the beginning of January too

So western
Long Island did best last nights. With I guess realistically, .5” there was a full coating on colder surfaces:
Yeah everyone west of the Meadowbrook or North of the LIE seemed to be able to get at least some accumulation unless you were right on the water

I stand corrected from my earlier assessment there are actually some mangled flakes mixing in here lmao, crazy that Farmingdale just a few miles north of me has reported light snow the past couple hours
-
Not even a flake mixed in here, oh well. Good luck to those that are north and west of the city
-
1.87” here in Lindenhurst, monthly total up to 9.25”

Low of 24.8 here in Lindenhurst this morning, Friday morning had a low of 22.7 which was my lowest so far this month
-
Getting some of the strongest gusts since around 8 AM right now
-
A lot of road ponding around town with this last wave of showers, shows how over saturated the ground is.
-
Total rainfall here 0.71”, although more is to come it seems. Peak gust was 57.8 mph here in Lindenhurst(used a calculator I found online that took into account height of the anemometer and roughness of the landscape around it and adjusted to estimated speed at 10m). This storm was no March 2010 or Isiais but still fairly significant wind wise, similar in intensity to the pre-Christmas storm from last year I’d say.

Recorded a 33 mph gust imby, probably translates to about 55-60 mph if my station was at official height

Final total of ~5.1” with this storm here in Lindenhurst, I’ve had covid for the past week so I honestly was completely oblivious to this whole event becoming a snowstorm until the WS Warning was issued. This must be what it feels like to be a normal person lol
