^ agreed. Climatology would say so. But that doesn't end cold and snow. Hopefully, by St. Paddy's day were on our way to an early spring.
As long as there are no more 10-14 day stretches of temps below freezing then i will be happy. At this point I will be thrilled to see 40 degrees.

I just have a hard time believing there's only a 10% chance of 8" in Indy. Surely at least a 30% chance ?

Is it possible to have very low temps (under 20) and low ratios (under 10:1) ?

Another day with a high below zero at -2. Now at over 50 hours below zero and looks like we might add another couple days to the streak.
Looks like you will be in the 30s next weekend. That will feel balmy.

Just live a nomadic lifestyle. Instead of following herds of buffalo you can chase snowstorms.
If I was retired and had money I'd just spend the winter chasing snowstorms across the country.

Well, if KIND is right this may end up being pretty much a non-event for Indy. I'm thinking we'll be lucky to see 3". Probably will be downgraded to an Advisory. 24 hrs ago it was 5-7, now its 3-5. 24 hours from now 1-3 ?

Model start to warm us up next week
Looks like we should be done with the bitterly cold weather after next week. I can handle highs in the 30s.

Will Indy fail to hit 50 in Jan and Feb for only the 3rd time in history ?
-
I guess this will be the last hurrah of winter. On to spring next weekend.

NWS is forecasting a high temp of 2 in OKC on Monday 2/15. Normal high is 55.
So is that about the equivalent of them seeing a high of 108 ?

Did KIND drop their Winter Storm Watch ? I'm not seeing it anymore.

Even as the cold has moderated in recent days south of 45N, it continues to be brutally cold in ND and MN. Langdon, ND dropped to -35 this morning. Lowest wind chill was -60, at 4:55 AM (temp -33, W wind at 13 mph). Looks like the WC has been -30 or colder at every single hourly ob over the past 7 days.
Fortunately it will be much warmer there by late next week.

Winter Storm Watch for Indy. 5-7".

We are getting close to the time of year when sun angle is a factor in the southern parts of the midwest.

I definitely think the date could be extended to the 15th. Next Monday will still be cold.

Coldest temps are done after early week.
So you are saying there is some light at the end of the tunnel ? I am going to throw a party the next time it hits 40 degrees.

I don’t even need to see the northern plains section of this map to know it’ll be damn close to a shutout here with everything suppressed south. Oh well, might as well freeze Lake Superior over.
It would be funny if Louisiana got more snow than you the rest of the month.

Whats crazy is this is a good winter for our region but Indy area just keeps getting missed
Accuweather says 3-6" between Wed morning and Thurs evening. Yeah right. I will be shocked if we get more than an inch through Thursday.
-
Is it just me or is Indy missing big snows from every direction ? Seems like Chicago, Cinci, Pittsburgh have all had bigger snows than Indy this winter.

Kuchera looks ridiculous for this coming Valentine's Day afternoon, but 9 inches at 10:1 ain't bad either.
Seems like every storm the totals diminish as the event gets closer. Don't see why this would be any different.
