Looking at the radar, looks like the precip is starting to push in, some heavier returns are showing up too

Feeling pretty good about this event in Greene County. Currently at 1.25 inches. With the RAP showing some support at 700mb and the coldest 850mb temperatures still being advected into the area, there should be continued development/enhancement as it interacts with the terrain.
Yep, just looked outside and it's coming down good. I imagine travel tomorrow will be difficult, the roads here are white already

Heavy snow now. 27 surface temp and 850s are approaching -10c. Flakes are decent size and coming down in buckets.
ground smoothing over. Wonder what the ceiling is for this event.... several hours left..
From my understanding it's supposed to snow till tomorrow morning

My sister said some of the roads in Greene Co are starting to get white O.o
Also looking at the radar, this precip seems to be more aggressive than what was modeled I believe?

I'll be honest, I could do without the super hard cold. I remember dealing with those when I lived up north and 1 degree temps with any wind sucksssss

So it's my understanding the NW flow stuff isn't really supposed to kick off till later today right?

No snow in Greene County! Is this that downsloping thing that limits snow in some places?
Give it a few minutes, it's coming down good in Mosheim. Not really expected to accumulate here till tonight

Would anybody like to explain to me what exactly an NW event is? I've heard of them in the past and kind of understand a little, but it'd be cool to get a detailed explanation!

Insane the mountain areas are expecting over a foot with the valley not looking like much, yeah yeah I know elevation lol

That’s how it is here. Can never really get more than about 1/4in total bc the sun comes out and melts it. It sure is pretty to look at. Too bad it’s not after dark as the sun wouldn’t be melting it. My temp fell back down to 30 degrees in that last squall that just came through!
I think that's the band that's moving through here right now, very heavy but also small flakes

Future radar keeps pushing back the time to transition to rain. Earlier it was showing a transition imby around 930, it's still snowing lol

The solar aspect has always intrigued me, 2009/2010 winter when I lived in Delaware was epic. Coincidentally, from my understanding solar activity at the time was super low.
